There is room for a deal. In true negotiating fashion both parties need to leave unhappily dissatisfied. The flames need to give up the idea that they will not have to pay property taxes, the city needs to eat more cost on the initial build... Or something of this nature, as it stands both sides have dug their heels in very deep. At least Nenshi is still talking about an Arean, with or without the flames being involved. It is now up to the Flames to come back to the table and try to find some uncommon ground.

He also said we'll probably need a new arena to get the olympics, the IOC stated the saddledome is fine, LAST WEEK

1.2-1.7 Billion dollars?
Thankfully city voters sided with financial prudent during the last civic election

He didn't pump up how good it was. But when Ron brought up the fact that the Edmonton building developed a previously undeveloped area of the Edmonton, Betman came back and pointed out that the Calgary ownership's first proposal was to similarly develop and undeveloped area of Calgary

Still need a new arena in addition to the Saddledome. You can't have every event in one arena unless you're going to have things scheduled 24 hours a day.

If you couldn’t tell with his slanted commentary, he’s with the PA now so I’m figuring he wiggled on there and is doing it for free so he could tow the company line.

Technically fine, that's about the best I can say about the Dome.

There's a difference between good enough to be considered, and good enough to win.

Maybe because one of those symbols looks like the Coilers symbol that we occasionally see in the E = NG thread. 💩😬

Yeah, my sense is that they were bending over backwards to convince Calgary to make a bid. Then things will change as far as requirements.

The main competition is a 50 year old building that doesn't even have seats for half its capacity.
