Greece!! Both of my parents were born there and I travel there often to visit family and friends. In the summer the lifestyle of living in Greece to me is the best. The beaches, the ocean, the food, the cafe's, the social scene and ohhh, the girls!!!!
For anybody who hasn't ever gone, don't pay attention to some of the negative press you may have seen during the financial crisis. It's a very safe country and has had a gigantic boost in tourism in the last few years. I believe in 2017 the amount of visitors surpassed 30 million!

Denmark.
With strong consideration to place like St. Bart’s or Antigua. Would be worried about island fever though.

Can't imagine leaving Canada. But if I did I'd want to go somewhere the health care system, pensions, etc. will be solvent in 40 years. So Norway.

Switzerland or Thailand would probably lead the list for me. the latter being my back-up plan if my life in Canada were ever to go belly-up.
I reckon I could be pretty happy in Oz, Germany, France, New Zealand (though I've never been) and maybe Mexico too.
Interesting to see how popular a little country like Switzerland is around the world. I remember thinking while I was there that it was basically what Canada would be like if we had our $h!+ a little more together.

I'd probably choose the U.S. or Australia, although I've never been to Australia. I'd have to strongly consider Europe too

Ireland. I love everything about Ireland. The culture, the people, the pubs, the music. Yep, that's where I'd go.

France, Germany, Switzerland, Austria. For retirement maybe Vancouver Island.
Also Iceland picking the US seems unlikely, maybe a small sample size that they took.

The country I would like to live was Panama, so I moved there. I've been here for 3 years and it took all 3 to get used to it. Besides the language barrier there are many cultural differences that one really had to adapt to quickly. It's been a great experience and I recommend everyone try it in the country of your choice at least for a short period of time. It's not the same as being a tourist, that's for sure.

Not really the case - there is Switzerland, Belgium, and Luxembourg in Europe.

Living in Canada is pretty great - although the winters make me question my life choices. I’ve considered moving elsewhere (Germany in particular) but it seems like a real pain to do so.

A country is too general, I enjoy living in specific places. Would you prefer Detroit or Lahaina? Edmonton or Calgary?

If you look at the Q&A on the original Reddit post, data for this image comes from a 2013 year-end poll by Gallup International. The original site is no longer online, but someone dug up the numbers from the Wayback Machine.
One thing of note is that the actual number one choice in most countries is the preference to stay in their current country. In most cases, any of the other choices were all distantly far behind.
It's also noted that the published results seem to be messed up for Canada and Australia, which both have their own country listed (in addition to the "stay here" option) and both have the USA with no results. This likely means that the Canada and Australia votes in the Canada and Australia polls should actually be the votes for the USA. If that's the case, Canada's #1 preferred alternate destination should actually be the USA, well ahead of Australia.
Australians overwhelmingly prefer to stay where they are (66%). Spain is a distant second (only 5%), not that far ahead of the UK or Brazil. That's the sort of thing where asking a different sample group of people would likely yield wildly different results.
The same survey for 2017 didn't ask this same question, so it's not possible to see more recent information.
