??? You wouldn't give up that much for Stone who has to be one of the top 10 wingers in the league??? You have to give to get, Brodie and Bennett are both in slumps and can't seem to get their acts together and the Flames aren't going to go far with guys playing like that. The Flames desperately need goals and Stone would score goals. Maybe the adding the first is a bit much but I wouldn't let that be the hangup in the deal. As I mentioned, maybe they give JGP with Stone for that package and maybe we add Stajan or something but if that was the framework of the deal I would be more than happy about it.

Peter Chiarelli isnt the GM of the Senators.
Reality is that is probably close to what it would take which is why I don’t think its really worth it. I’d probably do Brodie and Bennett tho.

Hoffman for Bennett 1:1.
Sens are desperate to add some futures after making a terrible deal for Duchene
Maybe the Flames add a second tier prospect (Kilmchuk?).

Don’t see a world where they do that deal. They could get way more value in the way of picks/prospects than a former prospect who seems to be regressing every year.

Yep. I'd be more than happy to give the Sens another big lumbering slow-footed D-man who has trouble keeping up but at least can shoot the puck hard.

Do you think this is the best offer Ottawa will get for the best scoring winger on the market at the deadline?

It's too late to consider Bennett much of a valuable asset for trade.
The days of him going one way with an impact roster player coming back are over. Maybe at the start if the season you could swing a deal like that.
Think of how other teams have scouted him this year. The flames have played him at centre and wing on all 4 lines atone time it another.
Bennett is now the complimentary piece in a larger deal.
You don't want to be holding this asset when the clock strikes midnight. This organization should've been desperate to turn 4th overall into SOMETHING.
Now, you add Bennett to Brodie to get an impact player coming back, instead of getting an impa t player for both of them in separate deals.
Unfortunate.

Brodie + Bennett + Klimchuk for Hoffman + 2nd rounder
That is, if Flames wanna go down that road. Gotta give up something to get something.

Hope Bennett isn't traded. Got a bid in on some signed memorabilia and I'm thinking I just might win it.
And I hope he pans out for the Flames.
But really, the money.

I think thst is a massive overpayment from the Flames. Then again I don’t hate Brodie or Bennett as much as several on here do. That is a package for a first liner not a second liner

I don't hate Brodie or Bennett as much as some either, but you have to give something to get something. That's just the way it is.
And Hoffman would become the 3rd most offensively talented forward right now for the Flames if they were to get him. There's no denying that.

It isnt about ‘hating’. It’s about properly judging their value and what a realistic trade would look like. Whether they should be looking to do that is another question.
Bennett for Hoffman is not a realistic trade.

I’ll add that I personally wouldn’t do that deal, I personally think Brodie is worth more in a trade than Hoffman.

Is it hate? The former 4th overall pick appears to be on a Yakupovian career trajectory. Wanting to try and get some value before you’re left holding the bag isn’t hate. Few want to see him fail, it’s more trying to improve the team and as a fan not seeing signs that he’s projecting as anything more than a bottom 6 energy guy. If he could get Hoffman that’d be super but he’s a throw in to sweeten a trade I’d think, not a centrepiece

Hows about:
CGY:
Mike Hoffman
OTT:
2019 1ST
Jon Gillies
Too much? Seems fair to me. Flames get their sniper (cost controlled) and Ottawa gets a blue chip goalie prospect and the pick they'll no doubt want
