Tonight really was rock bottom for the PP. With the talent that we can throw out there, it's absolutely baffling how it can be this bad.
Is Versteeg really the only spark that makes it click? It's infuriatingly bizarre.

I've never been on the fire GG train, and am certainly no where near it now. With all the terrible streaks, strange decisions and frustratingly stubborn insistence on his 'plan', there has been stretches of great hockey. You could argue that another coach could do more with this roster, but that's all theoretical.
But, and please correct me if I'm wrong, the special teams have not been in the top half of the league since Cameron was hired. It has always been a sore spot, and has always been criticised as a factor to many lost games. We won't be worse off without him.
Special teams are a make-or-break besides the points on the board they can produce. A team can gain momentum against our lackluster PP, and pull away if we put out a crap PK. This is way to crucial to keep sacrificing wins to give this guy a 40th shot at making something happen.

Kick Dave to the curb and bring in someone like Tim Hunter. I think he knows a thing or two about the importance of the BOA.

1 for their last 16 on the power play, and that 1 was against Buffalo.
Yeah, time to go Dave.

I find it hard to believe that the skilled players on this team can't be coached to the point of being one of the better PP in the league.
I don't want to see players traded. Coaches need to fix this.

I've never respected him since the day he got fired in Ottawa and cried at the press conference. You are an NHL coach. You're hired to be fired. Don't whine to the media and throw the GM/Owner under the bus.

I still don't get why they don't use Stone on the PP. He's no worse then Brodie

Dunno about a petition, but C of Reddit looks to be making an attempt at getting #FireDaveCameron to trend as a twitter topic.

That's my powerplay lines.
Its like they have no plan. Gaudreau enters zone, passes it around, D shoots it into the legs then its rinse and repeat.

And zero effort/hustle for puck recovery after the shot, so it gets cleared down the ice. And this is with an umbrella formation that puts more attacked near the red line.

They need to go back to basics, No more fancy dipsy doodles and trying to thread the cross crease needle pass too.

Nobody is better at passing it along the perimeter and then holding onto it at the point until the play dies.
Watching so many teams, the point is used as a quick pass to bring the fwds high before going back low and looking for a quick pass and shot. The flames insist on using the point as the main trigger. In an era where coaches and players talk so much about shot blocking, why are we trying the point shot over and over. It seems that either A) it misses the net B) its blocked or C) pressure to the point causes panic to a bad pass which leads to a turnover.

He’s got a harder shot than Brodie, but I’m not convinced it’s more accurate. He doesn’t skate as well, he doesn’t pass as well, and he doesn’t score as many goals (admittedly, power play time influences goal totals).
If he was more accurate with that shot, got it on net, then yes, he would create more chances for goals to be scored, if we had more forwards willing to get involved in front of the net.
That being said, why not give it a try. Hard for it to be any worse than the present state of affairs.

I said it in the gt, but why don’t they try Monahan as the other point man? Dude is the only guy on the team who can hit the net with any regularity and he has a canon

It is at the point you could consider Ferland back there as well with the best defensive d man. He has a wicked shot and could be a great option to switch with another winger should the opportunity to carry it low present itself. I picture Tkachuk in front of the net, Johny on a wing with Monahan at C. Put Ferland and Gio on the point and allow Ferland to walk it down low with Monahan dropping back a touch. Gaudreau is sneaky good at getting open, Tkachuk has great hand eye for the tap ins and Monahan can cheat into the deep slot where he likes to shoot. You now have potential for Ferland to unleash a shot or try and deflect off Tkachuk, Monahan in the slot, Johny cross ice and Gio for the last resort of a point shot at which time you would then have Ferland and Tkachuk screening the goalie.
