nobody said anything about the official account.

Sens twitter, Oilers twitter, Flames twitter, etc has become the vernacular to refer to fans/bloggers on twitter following a certain team

I have been wondering what we would get back for Mony if we even considered trading him. I love Mony, but firmly believe if he wasn't playing with the talent level of Gaudreau he would be a 2nd or 3rd line center on a lot of teams. Given his age, salary, and points this year, I would think he would fetch a massive haul.

When I look at the skillset between Mony and Jankowski, part of me feels that Jankowski would be putting up similar numbers and would maybe help gaudreau put up more points because of his passing ability, creativity, and shot.

Just wanted to get CP's thoughts on what we could get? Would he fetch a top prospect and a top 10 pick? more than that?

I swear...if it's Zach Smith we are looking at....and Troy Brouwer isn't going the other way....I will lose my mind.

Alternatively if it is Zach Smith, and somehow Brouwer is going the other way I will be ecstatic.

Really I just don't want to waste assets and salary space on Zach Smith - unless we are dumping Brouwer somehow.

Your kidding right? He's scored 20 goals every year in the league and will get 30+ this year.

He would get multiple top 10 picks. He's a guaranteed commodity not some unknow potential draft bust.

just look at the Oilers and their 3 #1 picks no longer on the team.

The expectations this forum has for Jankowksi is out of control.

Hell, Monahan is younger than Jankowski.

And the disrepect Monahan gets.

He's not an elite top line center, but he's still a damn good one. He had 22 goals, and 34 points as an 18 year old while Gaudreau was still in college.

Yeah. I can see the Flames moving on from Backlund - but it's not going to be because of Jankowski. It's going to be because of contract terms/player age/"grit factor".

Sure, if it happens and Backlund is moved - Janko will help going forward, but there's going to have to be another move with a new centre being acquired to **help** replace everything that Backlund brings.

...and we are getting closer and closer to that trade deadline and there's still no Backlund extension....

^^ Would you consider Toews an elite centre? they have very comparable stats in first 5 years and Toews had a way better team around him

I consider Monahan an elite centre. not top 5 elite but definitely top 10 in league

Toews had already received Selke nominations by his fifth season. He's elite on the basis of his defense, so I would not say they are a good comparable as much as I love Monahan. Not to mention the Conn Smythe.

I'm not sure he's elite or top 10 but he's still a damn good first line center.

Crosby
Malkin
McDavid
Stamkos
Tavares
Bergeron

That is probably the current elite tier.

Then you have "old guard" Getzlaf, Thornton, Backstrom, Toews, Giroux group that have been in that top elite tier in the past, have good playoff pedigree but are slowing down now. Toews could easily bounce back up to "elite" IMO though.

After you have a younger group that includes guys like Matthews, Seguin, Scheifele, Mackinnon, Monahan, Eichel, Barkov, etc

I would call that last group not quite elite yet at this but still damn good centers, and all of them young enough to still reach that elite group.

Yet he was the first to report Jokinen returning to Calgary and Gulutzan being the front runner for the Flames coaching position.

He isn't as reliable as some out there and I don't doubt he makes stuff up to fill his columns at times, but he has shown he has some sources.

Not just somebody who can't score, but competes with Brouwer for worst contract on the team.

Treliving can't really be interested.
