So with Brodie being the top 4 D most people want to trade are they ready for this?
Gio-Hamilton
Kulak-Hamonic
Bartkowski-Stone
If we move a Dman it should be a right shot. Andersson comes up.

I don't think Marner is too far off what he could fetch with two years left on a manageable contract. I would like to see the team shop him because I feel things aren't working out for him under this current coaching staff and it's not likely to improve.

Whatever Hoffman is worth Marner is worth more.
Still on ELC next season and is then a RFA. Huge potential.

If someone that good becomes available, look at moving roster players. I think the team has a few guys they can move out if the right kind of guy came alone.
The dream (I know it's a long shot, that's why it's a dream) would be Tavares having interest in the Flames. I think Backlund with an extension would be appealing to some teams, Brodie is on a decent contract and I'm sure some GM's will think he can be what he was 2 years ago, Bennett should not be considered untouchable IMO and has upside, Frolik is a swiss army knife that can be used in most situations and even though it would suck to lose him he should be a trade option for the right return. Even some of the prospects have to have some trade value even if it's as add ins to a bigger deal.
Teams that can't score, don't win. The team has lots of players that can't score for some reason and keeping them won't improve the team. Hopefully some of those players have value in the league and if a good player becomes available they should be looked at as expendable.

Still top 3/4 defensemen are not easy to attain as shown by the cost the Flames paid for Hamonic. Marner is a nice player but he's not Gaudreau good and him being on an entry level deal doesn't factor into trade value unless a team is up against the cap ceiling and needs relief.

Trading for a player with 60 point upside with another year left in an entry level deal doesn't affect their value.
Now I've heard everything.

Him being on ELC definitely affects his trade value. You're saving money on a Top 6 player so that can be spent elsewhere.
Anyways if Marner stays on the same line with Kadri and Marleau he is going to rack up the points.
I'm just going to stay out of your trade thread. Drives me crazy seeing Marner and Nylander here all the time.

Brodie is on a manageable deal as well. Marner's ultimate trade value I determined by what teams think he can become as all players his age are on entry level contracts. Whether Marner is on entry level deal or not does not matter to the Flames in regards to a return on Brodie as they are likely interested more in getting a scorer that can pay immediate dividends in the top 6.

Answer me this. Do you think Treliving is walking circles in his office mumbling "this kid has one year left on his entry level deal. We have to get this kid.". His age is the factor as all teams would like to pick up a promising young player and ELC is built in.

TSN has added Jordan Kyrou to their trade bait list, stating the Blues could reluctantly trade him in a package for an impact winger.
Unfortunately, the Flames don't have one to give in a trade. But Kyrou is one of the best RW NHL prospects right now.

Kyrou playing with Ruzzicka (sp) are doing wonders together. He would be a great add but like you said, the Flames don't have much to give up. It would be fun watching them develop for the Flames together though.

If we're talking about Marner, do you think we could add a bit and land Nylander? I think he fits the team better than Marner. Kyrou would also be nice but unless we're trading a frolik or something similar to the blues I can't see it happening.

What do the Flames have outside of Monahan, Gaudreau, Tkachuk, and Hamilton that would even make Toronto consider trading Marner/Nylander?

Bartkowski? Ever team needs a little more Bartkowski!
Maybe the Blues will want the grit and leadership skills Brouwer has...

You left out Giordano as I have no doubt he gets it done but the Flames would be worse for it. Babcock badly wants a top pairing defenseman.

I really don't think the Leafs would trade those players for a 34 year old defenseman.

Hamilton for Nylander might be the only thing that could get done. Marner still has another year on his ELC and I don't see Toronto parting ways with him just yet.

I have to admit Kadri & Tkachuk may form one of the most hated lines in this history of the league.

Hamilton is worth much more than Nylander. Matthews is the only player in that organization that's worth more than Hamilton.

I'm sure it could be fleshed out more, but those would be the primary players swapping sides.
Could it could be
CGY:
Nylander
2018 1ST, 2ND
TOR:
Hamilton
Flames recoup picks, get RH sniper they need. Toronto gets a cost controlled top pairing RHD they want
Flames assume the "risk" of signing Nylander long term as it could cost more than Hamilton etc
