Doesn't excuse this game and piss poor coaching. In fact the past has zero to do with this game which was extremely winnable. The Flames need every possible point.

So what? Your goalie is a part of the team. He's supposed to be one of your best players. It's like saying would Colorado be where they are without Mackinnon. Almost most certainly not, but who cares, you want your best guys to be exactly that.

Having your goalie have to be good shouldn't be used as some crutch against the team. If it was night in, night out, I would understand the point, but he hasn't been needed to be that lately. Tonight, he was excellent and probably got the Flames a point. But you know what, Johnny/Monahan have done the same thing this season. We going to use them playing good as a reason to rip the rest of the team?

Of course this team starts to look like ass right before they play the Oilers. I’ve seen this movie before

When you are as successful as the Flames, it’s totally understandable why you’d take the occasional game off. I mean, with such a large cushion in the standings there really is no need for urgency.

And really who can blame the Flames? After all, some journalist got the Sabres all riled up. No defense for that.

Overtime. Game on the line. Defensive Zone Faceoff. Who can take it?

Brouwer!

Yeah. Whoever made that call should be a star of the game with a Sabres Logo beside their name.

With that penalty by Backlund, he just lost a year off his new contract. What a bonehead play in front of the ref.

Exactly this. The winning streak simply puts the Flames back in the pack. Losing to bottom feeders with nothing in the 'care cup' as some were saying earlier today - and at home nonetheless - is a bad sign if you were one of the folks telling us the Flames might win the Pacific. No chance of that. Even if Vegas slips, one of the California teams will school us on how to finish first.

Well if they needed every possible point, they would have to finish with 126 to make the playoffs. Something tells me, that won't be the playoff cut off line.

Sure, losing to that piss poor team sucks, but there is room for error over the course of a season and tonight was a minor speed bump. No one expected them to get 2 points in Tampa, but they did. So it goes both ways.

In a dreamworld where I was good enough to play in the NHL, I dont think I’d want to play in a Canadian market.

I was fine with Brouwer at first honestly

Backlund in the box, Mony playing like ####...

However after badly losing the first two faceoffs maybe its time for a change. Fine with leaving the D out there because they were dominating and I'm sure they were saving Brodie for 3 on 3.

Very disappointing effort. Half the lineup is playing like they’re still on vacation. Mike Smith earned us these 2 points and this team owes him big in the next couple games. Monahan and Ferland were invisible tonight and that’s too bad because Johnny came to play. The 3rd line also looked pedestrian tonight and it looks like they’re back into another scoring funk. If this uninspired play continues, then it’s probably a good thing the All Star break is coming up.

Would like to see Mangiapane in after this, didn’t mind him sitting this one out but at least experiment with him on the second line. Would be so naive not too

Um no we won't, if LA beats Vancouver tomorrow. We drop to 10th in the West.
