Send down Mangiapane and bring up Lomberg for some energy on the 4th line.

No need for that just yet.

I think he looked OK to start but just started thinking to much/squeezing his stick. Let him watch from above for a game or 2 and then re-insert him and see how he does. He does seem to have "it" at the AHL level so I think being patient with him has long term dividens much more than a Lomberg or someone else.

He doesn't have NHL linemates yet.

No reason to rush Mangiapane. He's been developing nicely in the AHL.

It's good to see Lazar taking meaningful steps forward. Development takes time, patience, and opportunity.

Agreed, but you can see some signs that he's running out of gas in the third period. Looks great in the first and then Stajan gradually becomes more noticeable as the game wears on. Say what you will about Stajan but that dude's bagging it out there, he's in shape.

I'm not giving up on him or anything, but he needs to get faster and stronger if he wants to be a full-time NHLer. Him being on the 1st line in the AHL instead of the 4th line might be the best thing for him. Lomberg is your stereotypical 4th liner. It's a better fit for him. Call Mangiapane back up if Gaudreau, Bennett or Tkachuk goes down with injury.

Mangiapane is not a guy I’d expect to hit the NHL and never look back. I would expect a call up and demotion or two before he becomes permanent.

Now that said he may still be better than any other option.

He needs to be faster and stronger but throw him in there with the top 6 on spot duty when needed?

Is there a better option for top 9 LW if one of those guys go down?

If they all go down at once? No. If one goes down? Move everyone up. I just saw the critique being that he isn't strong enough or fast enough and then its suggested that he be put in the top 6 where he'd be facing the toughest lines and the most minutes. Basically where his suggested deficiencies would be most exposed.

Hrivik played LW with Backlund and Frolik in the preseason and was OK.

Klimchuk has probably earned a callup. Which would move someone else up the roster.
