Haven't watched the game yet but it isn't surprising. Not sure the break is that well placed. Oh well. On to Monday. Crush the Sabres.

Personally, I love Backlund but he isn't a scoring threat on the ice. He is a defensive forward who can contribute offense... Tkachuk can score but he is on a line with Backlund and his first priority is to defend against other team's top lines.

I love both players but you can't expect them to defend and be scoring. As for Pacioretty, you are right, he may be cold but he could also be hot. It's nice to have multiple options.

The acquisition cost might be high but he is a player in his prime. Not a 35 year old rental because then I would agree with you... I would see him kind of like how Patrick Sharp was for the Hawks

Jets are a good team. Flames weren't going to win out the season, so getting a point against a great team isn't the end of the world.

Worst games of the season for Backlund, Ferland and Monahan today. Hope that gets these guys mad and they have a bounce back effort on Monday vs. Buffalo

Power play still sucks.
Backlund with 85% CF to lead the team. Jets only got two shots on goal with him on the ice.

Generally outplayed during the game, overall fortunate to get a point. Flames didn't blow chunks, but certainly did not generate much.

At least the PP 'visually' looks improved.

Well at least Mike Smith didn't turn into a pumpkin during the break.

More proof advanced stats are garbage.

Bang on assessment. How many times did he carry the puck over the blue line, and then button hook back? A week ago he was driving the net. Serious step back tonight for JG.

As for the goaltending interference call I thought it was a bit weak but really that's how it's supposed to be called. The only problem is they don't call it consistently. Luckily we didn't lose the game on that call.

Was behind and just finished watching.

Top line looked flat and rusty.

Horrendous officiating (as usual). Just farcical how many blatant missed called in the fist and second period alone.

Announcing team was atrocious fellating the Jets and Ehlers in particular. That was Jim Hughson-calling the Canucks level bad in terms of not being able to hide giddiness.

Lastly (as always) shootouts are a joke of a way to end a good hockey game.

Take the 1 point and move on.

I don’t know the stats, but from a pure eye test I dont understand why we put Monahan in the shootout. Seems like he always skates in at a slow speed and fires a wrist shot directly into the goaltender. Reminds me of Igina in the shootout. Not his forte for sure.

Pretty even game. Thanks to the bad overturn, the Flames deserved both points, but settling for the tie isn’t the end of the world. Unbeaten in 8.

It is because he has scored a tonne of shootout goals. “No this forté” indeed.

Here is one reason why checking the numbers and not just depending upon the vaunted “eye test” is actually useful.

He’s very good in the shootout, that’s why.

Cold as in he's got one point less on the season than the guy (Backlund) you just described as not a scoring threat?

This fascination with Pacioretty you have is odd considering his acquisition cost and the fact he has one season left on his contract. He's going to be looking for big money and term that will quickly become an anchor as he starts to decline, tying up valuable cap space.

He sure doesn’t look like it the last few I’ve watched this season, but we haven’t had a lot of shootouts this year and I honestly can’t remember how he did last year.

I did not think the Flames played very good, but they were certainly deserving of a point in a dog of a game between two lethargic teams.

This is why the “eye test” fails.
