Injuries caught up to the Thrashers. Elias will be ready for the next game as will Walker and Denis. On a positive it's glad to see Gordon play well. 2 games played, 3 goals, 2 assists +7 in his 2 game debut.

Holy Crap! An 8 goal outburst by the struggling Jets. Maybe I should play Caron more often, when he plays, we win. Nice game all around, more details to follow.

Oh man, injuries are fun!

Tying the powerhouse Panthers is a positive, but I guess we owe that to Mr. Biron. 3rd game of 6 in a row.

HAWKS WIN! HAWKS WIN! HAWKS WIN!

Petteri Nummelin finally gets in the game. He has 2 shots on goal and sits in sin twice. No scoring yet, but that will come.

Brad Richards in OT wins it for the Hawks tonight.

Steve McCarthy tweaked some unknown part of his body. He will skate tomorrow and see how he feels.

Well an OT loss to the Hawks doesn't exactly have us feeling happy. 4 points taken from the Windy city folk in this 3 in a row so overall I guess we can't be too disappointed. Miro Satan continues to do his Alex Tanguay impression picking up 2 more assits. Scott Niedermayer also with 2 helpers and Eric Cole with two goals. In fact the first two Columbus goals have the league wondering if Sylvanfan's mad scientific antics have grown to the point where he can clone goals instead of players like Jonathan Sim.

Pens defense extinguishes struggling Flames!

In a battle of teams headed in opposite directions the Pens beat the struggling Flames 3-2 on friday night. The win was the 4th straight for the Penguins, whose defensive play has seemed to improve drastically over that stretch, while the loss was the 3rd straight for the Flames who now sit in a tie for 14th in the Howe conference with 17 points, The Pens sit in a 3 way tie for 4th in Gretzky with 28 points. JP Dumont was moved to the 2nd line to rest winger Marian Hossa and Dumont instantly clicked with Saku Koivu as the duo had a goal and an assist each in the victory. Olaf Kolzig extended his unbeaten streak in a Pens jersey to 3 games, allowing only 5 goals over that span for a GAA of 1.67 as a Pen. The Penguins will enjoy a day off Saturday to prepare for a two game set against the Blues on Sunday and Monday.

POINT PUTS STARS IN FIRST PLACE TIE

With a single point on Friday night the Dallas Stars are in a first place tie in the Howe Conference. The OT loss puts the Stars record at 13-9-0-2 and in a tie with the Colorado Avalanche for first place. The Stars have two games in hand.

The Rangers jumped out to a 3-0 lead with goals from Jaromir Jagr, Daniel Tranqvist, and Tim Connolley. However the Stars battled back to tie the game to earn the signle point before ageless Rod Brind'Amour scored the game winner 1:06 into the extra frame. The Stars got goals from Toni Lydman, Brandon Bochenski, and captain Alex Tanguay. "We battled back, and we were very fortunate to get a point tonight," stated Tanguay after the game. The Stars are now 2-0-1 in their last 3 games.

Game Stars

1 - Jaromir Jagr (RAN)
2 - Tim Connolly (RAN)
3 - Brandon Bochenski (STA)

Up Next: Phoenix on Sunday night.

Blues mop up the Oil spill

The tired, and beat up St.Louis Blues faced off against the powerful Edmonton Oilers on friday night, only to see the Blues come out victorious. It was unlikely names to get some of offense started, as Todd Bertuzzi scored his 10th of the season from Daigle and Armstrong to give his team a quick 1-0 lead. Freshly called up Chris Campoli got a chance to play with the injuries to Kaspi and Teppo and he made the best of it, scoring his 1st NHL goal on a blistering shot from the point that eluded Emery.

(Campoli scores his 1st NHL goal)

Tons of hits, and shots kept fans on their feet as they saw the two backups challenge each other. Ray Emery was outstanding, making 35 saves on 37 shots but his counterpart, Chris Mason, shut the door down on the Oil stopping all 27 shots he faced to give the Blues a 2-0 win.

(Mason gets his 1st shutout of the year)

Another key note to this game was the Blues had 10 power play chances, but only convered on 1 of them. That's something that will have to be worked on in order for the Blues to keep winning some games. The Blues will now have a day off before travelling up to Pittsburgh to face the Pens.

Caps rebound with a big win.....

After a loss to end their unbeaten streak the Capitals and Alex Auld rebounded to post a big win against the Kings...

however, Andy Mcdonald will be a game time decision after suffering a lower-body injury.
