Speaking of terrible officiating, Vikings player clearly in the neutral zone on the third and one yesterday. A correct flag and the Saints run out the clock, kick a field goal and there is no miracle.

That missed tackle to lose the game reminded me of a WWE move.

That player lined up in the neutral zone is a former Saint (and Calgary Stampeder) too; Tom Johnson.

Actually speaking of the Saints and Stamps, and the improbable, excruciating way they both lost this year (given I'm a big fan of both), stuff like that really makes me question why us sports fans willingly choose to add this type of pain and misery to our lives haha. Sometimes I'm actually envious of non sports fans, they must have longer lifespans..

As someone mentioned (Cecil?), the only safe way to do it and save the heartbreak is to just be a Patriots & Alabama fan

If you watched the Vikings’ bonkers 29-24 win over the Saints on Sunday, you noticed that the officials had to clear the field as Minnesota celebrated and had to get some New Orleans players out of the locker room. It was all so Minnesota could “attempt” the extra point. For most people, this was a moot point. But for gamblers, this was huge. The Vikings were 5 1/2-point favorites, so if they had kicked the extra point, that would have made the final score 30-24.

The Vikings took a knee instead of attempting the extra point, and that drew a huge cheer ... in Las Vegas.

I couldn't help but think of this song after that play.

Even the Losers get lucky some times. Hopefully Luck will find it's way to KC in one of these playoff games.

Congratulations to the Vikings. I'm so in shock I can't move.

Marcus Williams had a spectacular rookie season, and could have a stellar career. He was trying to make the right decision and not interfere. As a competitor, I'm sure he's crushed. I invite Nola to be encouraging and supportive as well as we move on.

Can't put all the blame on Williams. Why was there only one player behind the ball?

Gleason is such a beauty, love that guy. As for the second part, not to worry...looks like a sea of supportive people clad with signs supporting the Saints - and Williams in particular - met the team at the airport in the middle of the night to offer their support. Even after such a crushing loss...gotta love New Orleans. Judging by player tweets, the players were really touched by it. If it hurts us fans this bad, it must be 10x worse for the players themselves.

Just an all-time crazy way to lose, but I'm still so proud of how they battled back; what a comeback that would've been - hell, WAS - against that calibre of D in their own barn. Love the direction this team is headed. As I said yesterday, when you're that young of a team, you live by your rookies, you die by your rookies.

Brutal way to end the season but great and unexpected season overall for you guys. NFC South looking to be super interesting next year. Saints are young and Brees has probably another good year or two left so they should be good, even with a 1st place schedule. Falcons also have a great young D that should only keep getting better. If they can get the O figured out again they should be good too, especially with a 3rd place schedule instead of one of the league’s toughest schedules the last two years. Bucs have a lot of talent and should be much better next year. I’m thinking the Panthers might regress but they still did win 11 games this year.

Finally came out of the fetal position after that loss, damn that was a fun comeback though. Incredibly impressed with Marcus Williams after an all time screw up, didn’t hide and faced the media like a pro.

That was quite the roller coaster ride, the more exciting the win the more devastating the loss.

To see the elation on the Saints side after they got their field goal only to lose a minute and a half later, man I feel for them.

But..........I'm still on cloud nine.

Apparently Sean Payton was seen mocking Vikings fans just prior to the final play? With picture evidence;

That's just Payton, he loves the in game crowd interaction. He's back to his fiery, cocky, playful self this year, which makes me happy as that's when he's at his best. He had become a statuesque shadow of his former self the previous few years, it was a troubling sign. Think this young team has reinvigorated him.

...that said, from a non-Saints fan's point of view, I can see why he could get under one's skin and be disliked.

Vikings fans stealing that chant from the Icelandic soccer team is one of the lamer things to happen in sports the last couple of years.

Disagree. Not everything has to be only done by certain people. The team is called the vikings and its a fun chant. Let them have fun.

I mean the National team stole it from the Reykjavik-based team anyway.

Who cares?
