For some reason the break doesn't frighten me like some others. I think they come back ready for action.

Based on winning percentage, the Flames have moved up to 10th in the league:

1) TBL
2) VGK

8) LAK
9) SJS
10) CAL

Remember when the Pacific was the weakest division in the league? Four in the top 10 now.

Dougie Hamilton since Freddie claimed (not including the game the same day)

5 games played. 4 goals and 2 assists, +10, with 3 GWG.

It's funny how fans can see things so differently. Flames fans almost unanimously agreed it was clean and Canes fans think it was the worst hit they've ever seen.

DOPS is completely unpredictable. He could very well get suspended, even if we believe it's not suspension-worthy.

No way is that hit suspendable. 5 and a game should be more than sufficient punishment for a perfectly clean hit.

I’d say without hesitation that Smith has been the MVP this year.
That said the team only wins consistently if Gaudreau is going. When the first line isn't scoring this team doesn't win many games. He's in on a pretty large portion of the team's goals.

The Kings and the Sharks suck. I expect to see a dramatic change in short order.

I think it might actually be a good thing.

When you're winning, you start to get sloppy. But they have to sit and wait for a week before they can play again. They should be very much ready to try and pick up where they left off.

So....does this mean GG has learned how to coach.... Suddenly. Perhaps, the players are seeing his fire and want to play for him.

I’m not saying it should be a suspension. Sadly you don’t know where the wheel of justice will stop, which is why I am expecting it to be a suspension.

Meanwhile poor Freddie still hasn't played a game for the Yotes as of yet.

How on earth Tocchet thinks Zac Rinaldo has any business playing anymore NHL games is beyond me. I know Freddie's no good, but Rinaldo is a seriously pathetic excuse for a hockey player and should've been out of the NHL years ago.

Rinaldo has got to be the worst hockey player still in the NHL.

my thoughts:

1) one of Johnny's best games all year. A threat every shift.

2) tj and Hamonic were really solid

3) plays die on brouwer's stick. 2nd line covering a lot of mistakes. Got hemmed in our own zone in the third with Brouwer giving it away at our own blueline in the 3rd. Concerned when Frolik gets back where they are going to put Brouwer because the 3rd and 4th lines don't have a Backlund to correct the errors.

4) I like Cassie Campbell. Really enjoy her commentary. Don't know where the hate comes from.

5) I think the break isn't a bad thing right now. Hopefully they use the rest appropriately

Sure, it's sunny right now, but the problem is that all this sunshine results in moisture evaporating, rising up into the clouds, and condensing, and them bam! before you know it, it's raining.

Fun fact:

The Flames have now played 18 consecutive games without allowing more than 3 goals (Dec 4th, 5-2 loss to PHI)

Canes "fans" don't have a clue about hockey though

The referee 5 feet away didn't even think it was a 2 min penalty. No way it's a suspension

The Flames are playing unreal right now, but I believe the stats tell us that these breaks are usually tough to come back from as they're mandated to not practice and the players usually go away with family and really check out for the whole week.

Don't get me wrong they deserve the break, but they really are crappy to head into on a streak.
