I was just at Rogers Video. They are renting a bunch of games for the
Wii already. Spend the $5, you get the game for 5 days, figure out if you
like it, and if you do, go buy it.

They have a deal right now, rent 2 and get 1 free.

Really? Dreamcast has probably has the smallest library of games out there and the system itself is plagued with problems. I bet it would be really hard to find one that works, let alone find one at all. Two my friends still have theirs which are now expensive paper weights.

Sega Tennis is the ONLY redeming quality of the dreamcast.

Soul Calibur was amazing as well.
Chu Chu Rocket was a great party game.
I loved Skies of Arcadia as well - great RPG.

I liked the dreamcast, and still have mine (and yes it still works)

My brother picked one up and we played it after the hockey game last night. I have to say I was impressed. Those sports games are awesome.

That is a great system to have for parties...to be able to bowl, or play tennis or golf against each other is great.

Very unique system. If they can do something about the graphics it will be even better.

Is it because it really takes advantage of the new tech or is it just that Zelda is always so much fun? I ask because I'm considering buying the Zelda game for Gamecube for my boys on December 16th when it comes out and waiting to buy Wii till the price comes down.

You know I'm really not sure... when you bring the sword out of its sheath, you pretty much just give the controller a light shake. But when you go and fight, you can swing it around either lightly or like a savage and he'll do the same move essentially. So I'm not sure how useful the new tech is for using your sword and stuff, because you can probably get the same out of it by pushing a button. Not sure if this explains it well.

Other actions, like throwing a boomerang or shooting an arrow involve using the remote to aim on the screen and a target appears, which is pretty neat too.

hmm... overall I'd say it does use the new controller. Also there are sounds that come out of the new remote, although they are fairly loud.

But I'm sure its just the fact that its Zelda, its been awhile since the last one, the scenery looks amazing and fighting guys is pretty fun.

I'm sure if you just got it for the gamecube, it would be ok. I really like how the Wii has gamecube controller ports so you can play your old gamecube games in the Wii despite the different size of the discs... my gamecube broke so this is a big advantage for me.

Wii remote goes flying and cracks a 60 inch tv. Looks fake, but i guess with WII bowling people are letting go of the controller when throwing the ball. My wife almost hit my dog when she first tried that and didn't have the strap on tightly. hehe.

The guys at IGN had a bunch of non-gamers come in to play Wii Sports and one of the girls got really into it and the strap broke, came out of her hand and made a good sized dent in the wall..

Any hockey games coming out this season? I'll probably buy the Wii whenever one comes out and if it's fun enough using the nunchuck as a hockey stick. Also wouldn't mind trying Tiger Woods with the nunchucks too.

Yeah for me I would have to see if my chip I have in my Gamecube transfers over to the Wii. The vast majority of my gamecube collection I picked up in China and I doubt those games will work in the Wii LOL.

The Wii's graphics are actually very good. If you've seen Resident Evil 3 on GameCube, you know much more is possible. Just the unfortunate practice of Nintendo using simplified looking games like Wii Sports gives the impression that the graphical capabilities are limited.

But will they be impressive in 1 to 2 years? They already blow it away graphically, but by then the 360 and ps3 will make it look like atari.

I for one could care less. Graphics don't make a game fun just look good. Galaga is still in my top 10 of all time favorite games and its graphics suck. And as most of us know the best hockey game made was made in the early/mid 90's...

So you would still rather play NHL 94 than NHL 07? Nostalgia is nice, but man, I tried going back to play that last year and it was virtually unplayable. The only thing good about those games is the memories. Yeah, they were awesome when I was 12. Games have to evolve over time. Otherwise the original NES would still be around today.

It would seem that many still like NHL94.

http://www.nhl94online.com

NHL'94 had its idiosyncracies, but was still an entertaining game, to
many the best EA sports game.

The original NES isn't around today because Nintendo wants
planned obsolescence. As do most manufacturers. This obsolescence
is brought around and sold via changes in technology.

The Sega Genesis had Sonic the Hedgehog, something people today
still ask for (Nintendo and Microsoft(?) will offer it online). Sonic was,
and still is, an entertaining platform game.

And how about when WOW graphics deteriorate? Will people give it
up then? Diablo is still played.

Games have to evolve. Technology dictates it. In the current
case, the games are evolving through the controller. PS2 and Xbox
did it via graphics and, for the time, power.

I picked up a Wii, and it is fun. A lot of fun. Out and out entertainment.
Something that's been missing for a while now.
