Pretty unlikely to win the division. LA is within reach for sure.
Vegas has such a lead. Their home record is amazing. I think part of that is because visiting teams get distracted.....but that only works once. Second half of the season and in future years, teams will be used to playing in Vegas.

If the Knights go on a big losing skid, like a 1-7-1 kind of a stretch,
and the Flames sweep the 4 games with the Knights,
then there is a small chance they might actually win the division

Fans deserve a little optimism, and a little fun, after 40 games of mostly frustration, don't you think?

I would be satisfied with a top 3 finish and anything more is icing on the cake.

No #### eh, I think I have missed half a game this season and I totally agree with this statement. I would be less optimistic if our underlying numbers didn't pass the sniff test and if we hadn't been playing really well for quite some time now. I don't think people take into account how bad our puck luck has actually been this year. Believe in it or not but we by a large margin have hit more posts than anyone. That says something.

Secure a playoff berth (home ice would be a bonus), then stay healthy down the stretch.

Vegas is getting the "light" treatment by teams going in just like Edmonton last season and the Flames in their 14/15 breakout. Teams will learn and adjust, but that could take until next season so it'll be a tough gap to make up. Still no way that home record is sustainable. It makes sense, hanging around Vegas would be quite the distraction.

Sure, anything is possible. It will require Vegas to play like an expansion team in the second half of the season, the Kings, Sharks, and Ducks to play sub .500, and the Flames to continue at the current pace. Vegas really has to fall off the face of the earth for there to be any hope. Not sure I see that happening though.

I'd be happy with a wild card spot and a 1st playoff round vs Vegas. I think Anaheim will get a top 3 spot now when they start to get healthy. They're still the best team in the division imho.

Logic says no way. But I believe in the stick-throwing era Flames.

As I mentioned in the Panthers PGT, if the Flames sweep Vegas in their upcoming matchups, it is conceivable. Flames coaching staff should already be studying Vegas tape and approaching these games as a mini-playoff series.
The Flames have a pretty good chance of meeting Vegas in the playoffs, so regardless of where they finish a possible 11 games against the Knights over the course of less than four months is a pretty good way to build a rivalry pretty fast.

Booking a trip to Vegas with a bunch of Flames fans for 2 playoff games would be epic!

Yeah, and? The question was win the division. Anaheim and LA has been a 2nd half teams the past few years, so that has to be taken into when considering the question. San Jose has had a rough 2nd half, so they are probably not as big a concern. I think the two southern California teams will be in the mix and the Flames will have to battle them to earn the crown, if Las Vegas falters, which I don't think they will.
