I could careless about the whole whipping boy thing, but Lazar is having a very respectable game for a 4th liner. He has had two solid scoring chances already.

Does he have the best hands? No. He’s also a 4th line energy guy, and is effective at it.

Stajan is in the final year of his deal, and on the way out of the league and shows no signs of improvement. Lazar does show improvement.

Lazar hasn’t shown he’s an nhl player in any capacity other than his compete level

I want him to succeed(I want every flames player to) but he has wheels and heart and pretty much nothing else. No hands, fires muffins wide, not great iq, gets put on his ass the majority of the time he tries to hit someone

Lazar looks lost on the ice all the time. He's probably the reason Mangiapane hasn't scored yet. Everytime the flames get possession in the offensive zone and he's on ice and touches the puck, they lose possession. The only time Lazar is acceptable is when he is chasing an iced puck and he out skates the opposing skater.

This is such an over-used phrase. He has plenty of hockey IQ - his defensive play is excellent.

His problem is a total lack of finish. But claiming he has low IQ is very inaccurate IMO.

I’d be way more worried if he was a vet and wasn’t hustling. Nothing wrong with is play as a young 4th liner. He made a few nice defensive plays the other night just with his hustle. People blowing things out of proportion as usual!
