Not our best period, but they definitely picked up the pace at the end there, starting with that huge penalty kill, and then Johnny's goal, and a PP goal to top it all off. Good stuff!
Tampa is gonna come out hard in the 3rd, but if we can stay out of the box, and if Smith continues to play otherworldly, I like our chances of coming out of this one with 2 points. Sitting back and going into prevent mode is death. Gotta keep skating and stay on the forecheck.
Ok NHL Gamecenter, I am watching the away feed and during commercial breaks they have these terrible indie videos put out by McLean's and if I see the one of this girl band absolutely butchering Nirvana one more time I very well may snap.

I still don't understand why we never kept Stralman.i remember nothing but good things about him when we got him but he never even gotten a shot here and now loom at him
That stop on the penalty shot is the turning point in this game so far. You can tell the bench knew that had to up the intensity to reward the awesome play of Smith. What a rock he has been the last few.

Calgary was playing some possum... not going to go toe to toe with TB on the road...
but they can't go into a shell; they still need to counter punch when they can...TB will be going all out and activating their D, so Calgary needs to take advantage of any odd man rushes they get

Tough luck for Tampa. I feel like we've been on the other end of a lot of these kinds of games though, so I don't feel too bad for them.
The Flames were sorely due for some evening out in that regard. They couldn't buy a timely goal for a while there and outplayed teams with nothing to show for it.
Also when you have the league's best road goalie dialed in it helps. How many times did we run into hot (/backup) goaltenders in the first half? About time the other side had to face some of that agony.

Johnny Gaudreau puts CGY up 2-1, gets his 66th career multi-point game. That passes Jarome Iginla for the 8th most in Calgary #Flames history (1980-pres) before a player's 25th birthday
