Is their any evidence one word of this statement is true?

Is there any evidence that it’s conservatives up in arms about this?

Presumably its the 'Self-Fulfilling Prophecy Fallacy.'
If they're up in arms about it they must ergo be Conservative.

That it's mainly 30-50 year old moms upset about this? Or that 30-50 year old moms tend to vote NDP provincially and Liberal federally?

I have nothing to add that hasn't been said already but I was curious about the petition.
The most recent first names of those signing it:
It does appear to be mainly women upset about this.

Well both, since you're making that claim. And you'd also want to remember to localize those stats to Calgary itself.

Nobody would be paying any attention to this event if it was 18+. And anyone who thinks anxiety around child safety is a socially conservative thing is ignorant of the social climate around anything to do with children in 2017. Some of you 20-somethings and singletons need to get out of your bubbles.

I have two daughters, 9 and 11. We talked about this nude event. We explained to them what nudism was.
Both said they wouldn't go. Nor would be bring them, if we were to go, which we aren't because inflicting my body in jammers is enough torture for people's eyes.
Kids do have opinions.

The anti-petition petition seems to be pretty evenly divided based on first names of commenters.

That social climate of misplaced fear and overreaction and helicopter parenting where folks worry way too much about things that are not only not going to happen to their own kids but to every kid ever? That social climate?

Logic and the statistics on child abuse don’t support the kind of anxiety people seem to have over this event though.

Yep, that social climate. I hate it too. But anyone who thinks it's a socially conservative attitude is kidding themselves. It's not older, rural, religious, tax-hating Albertans who won't let their kids in a pool without a life jacket, or let them walk home from school. It's the educated, liberal suburbanites - the same people who vote for candidates who campaign on building more schools and improving access to health care.

Statistics and logic go out the window with anything to do with children. Anyone who is a parent today knows that. Parents in this city won't even let their kids take public transit, and we're surprised they're not okay with naked kids at an open-to-the-public swim party?
