It's absolutely not what they're doing now. They are making slow passes on the outside and then trying the occasional shot from the outside. The Jankowski one timer is an example of what everyone is asking for, but the puck got there so so late that Stalock was set for quite a while.
They also do way more point ####s that you all are suggesting. Gio shoots and Brodie does as well (usually at the worst times). And when Stone has been in he's done nothing but that, with terrible results.
I don't think so. We have 4 forwards on the first PP. 1-3-1 formation, which is good if you have a Ovechkin on one side and Kucherov on the other. We literally have no one-timers to make this work. IMO they should go back to the standard 2 point dmen and let some shots from there.

Exactly. This team don't have triggers that fires off one timers. Every time a cross ice pass is made, the receiving players ALWAYS flubs the puck on the ideal opportunity.
Of any forward on the roster, Ferland could be that player perhaps. He had his chances but his stick kept breaking for that period when he was there.
The formation is pointless since setting up the one-timers is the whole point. If the team is incapable of doing that, which has been the case since Versteeg has been injured, go with a formation that embraces the teams cycle element.

I'm not calling for one timers. I'm also not calling for point shots. I'm calling for close in, dirty, quick puck moving attempts, and lots of them. And this team should be able to do that. No more outside the perimeter stuff. And if there's going to be a pint shot it needs to be from a pass from down low, not across the ice, and a lot quicker of a setup.
Enjoyed that one - except for the PP. They are just thinking WAY too much and whomever is back at the blue line is too nervous often to make a good play - mostly just tries for a fast play. Gio takes too long to set up a shot as he tries to pick a spot - he'd be better off just banging the puck towards the net often and let the faster puck retrieval guys try to do so and shoot.
Reffing (again) in OT was abominable, and the 3rd had questionable calls on both sides. At least they were kinda, sorta even-ish.
Loved Hamilton's reaction after the goal. Just stood there with a stoic look on his face, arms in the air - not much emotion at all. Then suddenly that great grin and smile. Loved it!!

I thought Stone played a great game even though the refs are finally getting wise to the numerous penalties he should be taking every game
He should really be on the #1pk imo. It hasn’t killed the Flames for a while but the way it’s looking I think it’s just a matter of time before it starts losing the team games. Hamonic and Brouwer just aren’t smart enough or fast enough to be out there against #1 units

Underrated play on the OT goal was Giordano. Suter had to rush his shot because Gio hustled back hard to get some pressure on him. Then Gio hustled into the corner, won the puck and fed it down the ice to Johnny.
Great play by the captain.
Also, LOVED the emotion by Johnny when they confirmed it as a good goal. He was fired up and I love seeing that.
More than that.
Johnny doesn’t get the call, so plays the puck away from everyone else, giving Monahan and Gio a chance to come back, so it’s not a 2 or 3 on 0. Gio actually tips the puck on the breakaway pass, just enough so that it can’t be recieved easily. Then Gio keeps skating hard so that he cuts off any chance of a deke. And because the Wild player was already in tight, he only had one option, drastically increasing the chance of Smith making the save.
After the blatant interference preventing Johnny from getting the puck, Johnny has the presence of mind to go get the puck (to beat out what would have been icing). Then the patience. And Dougie beat the wild player back into the play after they both came onto the ice.
Wild fans are so boring Gaskel has no material tonight
I tried searching for some myself and yeah, there's no good ones really. Salt is funny but they're just mad at who they had out in OT. And Oiler fans are in full blown feel sorry for themselves mode they're not even salty about Calgary wins. Pretty salt free oot out there on the interweb, but if anyone can find some gold it's gaskal.
