Oh I would bet, this move the triggered by the Flames....
It just was not working
Out of respect the team has allowed the agent to look at all possible opportunities.

I doubt a few weeks of conditioning is going to do much good at this point, the guy is 46, not 36 or 26. Injury recovery and conditioning just take that much more time, plus to me he doesn't have the speed to play in todays NHL where players just close the gap so quickly.
Its just time to let him go. Let him go, Can't hold him back anymore.
Work with him healthwise to get him to the Olympics then release him.

Former superstars like Jagr don't want to play if they are no longer impact players in the league. Jagr knows he's been struggling, wouldn't be surprised at all if this was all his idea.

Would have loved to have seen him if he'd been through a full training camp. You miss that at his age, next to impossible to recover. Too bad.
I still think he added something here. The kids took notes. Heck, I'd see if he wanted to do some coaching. Couldn't hurt getting his input on the terrible power play.

I don't understand all the people wanting him to stay around and "Rehab" and be ready to play down the stretch and in the playoffs.
What makes you think he'll be any better than he was to begin with, and how would you like the Flames to accommodate that?
You can't just keep a player on IR and off the active roster so he can relax and take it easy for a few months, plus, it sounds like that's what he did all off season, which lead him to not being in game shape this season.
If he's capable of extensive rehab and exercise, and on ice drills to get back into game shape, he's going to be cleared to play, and will have to come off IR, meaning he'll be taking up a roster spot long before he's in peak shape to be "Productive" like some seem to think he's capable of.
As for him sticking around to coach.... really?
Of the 9 NHL teams he's played for, the Flames are the team he's played the fewest games with. What makes you think his loyalties lie with us, not to mention the fact he owns a team in his home town. If he wants to coach, it won't be here.
Was it cool to see Jagr wear a Flames jersey. Ya, it was.
But expecting him to be a productive player, or a coach for us at this point is a fantasy.
The experiment was short lived, rightfully so.
The Flames should do him right, put on a big show for his NHL retirement at the next home game, and let him ride off into the sunset as an absolute legend of the game. As fans, we should give him the Jagr salute, and move on, cheering for our team.

I remember seeing some video of him at practice working with Bennett, playing keep away along the boards. It's details like that which made him valuable. He was never going to be the force he was in the past, but if he could impart some of his knowledge and composure to the younger guys then it was totally worth it.

I said before he hit the ice, if he never scores a point it'll still be worth it for what he teaches the kids.

Based on nothing but pure speculation, I think he's had a big impact on Bennett and Janko. And that's worth his salary IMO.

If he hangs them up, his last NHL goal will be assisted by Johnny Gaudreau. Nice little feather in Johnny's cap.
Also, his last NHL assist would be on the "between the legs" goal by Jankowski against Arizona.

This was likely more Jagr than the Flames, imo. I bet the Flames would let him put in the effort and time to get back to healthy one more time.
But if you're Jagr, you've played a hall of fame career, have a girlfriend sitting with you through a Canadian winter (going back down to -25 starting tonight), have to do nothing but hard training and rehabbing followed by playing on the fourth line when you're finally good, with no hope of getting back up to speed.
He likely took all this in after his last tweak and said "If I get another minor injury I'll hang 'em up".

Plus Bunk witnessed his last goal in person. What a thrill for him.

This sucks. I thought he played as expected with the Flames, particularly once he got a few games in.
Kind of hoping this was his idea knowing that aside from injury, he probably wasn't going to get back up the lineup. He's clearly a better option to play on the second line in Frolik's absence, if Jagr is healthy, but Brouwer having the A and getting unlimited benefit of the doubt stops that.
I, too, would prefer to have him remain with the team and get healthy, even taking off back-to-back situation like NBA teams are starting to do with their older and/or star players. The Flames are aspiring contenders this season and there is no doubt Jagr offers more than Stajan, Lazar, or Brouwer do so why downgrade your roster unless it's the player's choice? Also, injuries and cold streaks are still to come.
Aw well. Sad for now but in the long-term I'm ecstatic we got to a see a true legend of the game in our team's uniform.

Huh? If this was Jagr's call - he simply calls a press conference and announces his retirement. Instead we have a leak to the media that "the Flames and Jagr are working on a separation agreement" ... In other words, Jagr was told his services won't be needed here any longer, but in deference to his legend we will be patient and allow him to come up with an exit plan that is amenable to both sides.

We're better than that. Stop it with this kind of crap. Jagr didn't work out. Fine. We're moving on. Wish him the best and thank him for the work he did with Bennett, Tkachuk and Jankowski while he was here.

I'll stand by my comments (thank you for deeming them crap), mostly because that's not what I am saying. I think he is a great hockey player, and I wish him the best where ever he goes. Really wish it would have worked out for him. I'd be fine with him staying and mentoring the younger player (and think that might have been his greatest contribution while he was here). But I think the criticism is fair - if you are going to take someone's money to do a job, you better show up able to do the job. I'd say that about Gretzky, Lemieux or Orr.

Brouwer has played 2 good games (wins on that line)
Team is under .500 with Jagr in the lineup
