Another poster said that you can't teach hands. I don't agree, I think it's genuine hockey IQ that you can't teach. But at least he can work on his hands all offseason, hire a stickhandling coach and/or a shooting coach, like Bouma did that one year he exploded his goal totals.
Lazar either whiffs it wide or plants it right onto the goalie's crest. You may as well tell him to keep it along the ice to hope for rebounds.

I honestly think Lazar simply puts far too much pressure on himself in shooting situations. He's so far inside his own head he can't simplify.

Did anyone catch the flames on-ice celebration after the game? Smith took about 3-4 tries to knock Johnny's helmet off his head. It was pretty funny.

i thought the wave was something you do when the game is well in hand?
not sure who in their right minds is doing the wave in a one goal game or game that is tied? I have better things to do...like actually watching the game or screaming at the refs

Awesome game by the Flames! Great to see them beat the loathed Ducks. Bennett sure imprrssed me taking on Manson as he is one tough customer. This team seems to have turned a corner, I sure hope they can keep it up. Go Flames Go!

How so?
Do you mean refereeing?

The only think that appalled me last nigh was the officiating. I didn't think that crew did a very good job at all.

I have to clarify. Are you saying that the coaching remains poor but the flames were able to win because of magic?

What specifically didn't you like about the coaching?

Best part about that game was ruining #12 ref's sportselect bet.

What’s this about GG shaking Bieska’s hand? Why? Any video?
Also apparently Smith’s reaction to the Hamilton goal was terrific. Any video there?
Thanks

Coached him in Vancouver, nothing to see except two old friends saying a friendly hello.

Its like I said before the game in the other thread.
Lose and its GG's fault
Win and its all the players
Ridiculous, Flames had their best first period of the season

I think you totally misunderstood the post. It was on the Flames *players* to recover and come back, and gather their poop in a group after letting in two relatively quick goals. I didn't see anything that indicated the coaches had much, if anything, to do with the comeback. If you did, please identify it.
And, for the record, I'm more "win or lose and it's on the team, including coaches" except when the team either (a) makes a brilliant series of plays to win (the two shifts prior to the goal) or (b) makes a totally boneheaded play to lose the game (as the PP play above would indicate, if they'd lost).
The coaches aren't on the ice, but GG *can* attempt to interrupt negative flow with a timeout. It may, or may not, work.

Just want to give a shout out to Mike Smith. He made some big saves in the final few minutes to prevent the Ducks' comeback.
Would have been goals on any goalie of the last few years.

This timeout stuff. Is there any proof it does anything to change momentum? Especially in the NHL where there are long TV timeout 3 times in a period.
I could see in a junior game without the TV breaks but the NHL has long breaks throughout the game.

While it’s only one game, and planning the parade route would be very Oileresque, I will still be grumpy for a few days if we do not win the cup yet.
That being said, most of our key players are still a few years away from their prime. Loved seeing our entire 3rd line in the box.

Okay.
It's the wave though. It doesn't take that much concentration. You throw your arms in the air for half a second every so often. And if you're super coordinated you can throw in a wooooo at the same time.
