I re-read it, and I see commentary on your post. On what you said in your post. Nothing personal there. I'm done then.

If they play like the second period against LA for the entire game I think GG’d little outburst devserves some credit.
I am looking at the next set of games before the bye week. Tough matchups and a real make or break. Similar to the outburst after the Habs game “we were pathetic. It was a pathetic display” the team turned it around. Treliving needs to find this years version of Stone but this year up front and add a scoring winger this team hopefully gets back in the playoffs

Hrudey on the HNIC panel tonight stated that Gulutzan had been building up to this explosion. He said he blew up on Tuesday and Wednesday at the team during practice as well.
So maybe this wasn’t some planned show as some have suggested here.

The "planned" thought is idiotic to me. How can it be planned? Does the team always mail it in at practice? So he knew they would? If that's the case, that's the story here.

Sounds like it might be a bit of an issue after wins, and was again so he snapped. Thinking he did this calculated melt down just doesn't make any sense.
Edit: but no I don't think the players always have poor practices. which is why I don't think it was "planned".

It was a leading question and intended to be 'fun'. The players responded accordingly. It wasn't a matter of them 'not taking it seriously'. That is how the question was given.
The players might have had a good laugh about it afterwards, but that doesn't mean they don't respect Gulutzan.
|
So what does it mean? Kypreos commented with worry about those reactions in the first intermission tonight, and added that in his day, if Bryan Murray or Mike Keenan had done something similar, it would have put the fear of god in the team, and no one would be laughing about it an hour later.
It was also pointed out that that display was a once-per-season tool.
Clearly the team has reacted well tonight, but time will tell if it can lead to long term consistency, which has eluded the team the last two years.

Head games aside, if the coaching staff could put together a somewhat competent PP strategy, this game is over. Doesn’t even need to be good, just competent.

Pretty sure their strategy isn't to pass the puck to the other team multiple times and have a fire drill on the back check
Take the hater glasses off and give GG this one

Well for the sake of argument, we also can thank the Duck D that reversed and his teammate that wasn’t expecting it, basically handing Johnny the puck, and also the hockey gods and/or Bieksa’s shinpad for the two goals that were frankly more luck than coaching.
Glad to see the team win, by whatever means.

Yeah, they made mistakes, but the Flames were flying in that period. Gio'sgoal involved luck, but followed a shift of very intense pressure. Ferland's was because Johnny was pressuring as well.
For weeks posters have complained that the coaching staff didn't have the Flames ready to play. They clearly were tonight, but no credit given to the same staff.

exactly
come out flat "coaches fault" every damn time
come out flying "all the players"
I am not convinced about GG either but it gets ridiculous sometimes. People are such fanboys of the players they can't bare to blame them other than the select scape goats who get the least ice time.
Matty (in my top 3 on the entire team) almost blew the ####ing game with a really stupid pass on a 4 min PP that should have been conservative. He is young, he will learn.

And in my opinion the Flames first period goals were lucky, be it capitalizing on a miscue or a lucky bounce on a puck headed wide.
The Ducks 2 goals were arguably more well earned.
I don’t love the coaching staff, based on several factors, but will surely give you that they had a better start than usual.
Heck, if they didn’t after being national headlines, there was going to be huge trouble.

you can't be serious...if you have to try this hard you might just be wrong lol

Perhaps Kypreos was going by the players' reactions without listening to the leading question, as many people in this thread seemed to do? That's my take on it anyway.

Really, man?
Which is a better goal?
1. Getzlaf slapper - a laser past Smith top corner
2. Gio slapper - headed wide, bounces off Bieksa shin pad and in
Not trying hard, just commenting on what anyone should be able to see. Off you go.

Except the Flames could have had a bunch of other goals in the first. They earned them through overall being the better team.

That is fair, they were the better team.
Also, and still, the actual goals they managed to get in the first were very, very fortunate
Glad they won, of course
