I was referring to you inserting yourself into Gully's shoes and construing how he interpreted things... in addition to the unknown questioning about Gio. I don't find it the least bit odd Gio (or anyone else on the team) didn't really adress or downplayed media's inquires about this very minor incident in practice.

How's about you try to defend this take without using the word "if" or hypotheticals?

Hopefully a rival fan is putting together an ATL on this thread.
There is some comedy gold here that shouldn't be wasted.

Most of us hear I assume have played team sports in the past. These guys have done it their whole lives. I don't care who you are, you listen and care when a coach is that upset. I love that GG did/does this and we got a glimpse of it. These guys are professional hockey players, but they are still just playing a game. What the coach says and does means something to these guys, they are only human. Gio is a top 20 defenseman in this league that gives %100 every game. I do not believe he is a problem. I think this is Gully's way of welcoming a few youngsters to this team and making sure they try as hard as Gio. Just my opinion.

Are you seriously criticizing me for saying what I'd do if I were Gulutzan? You, sir, may be the one confused. Do you know where you are right now?

Easy.
Assuming my motives and imagination are properly calibrated, the Calgary Flames are not in a playoff spot.
Who to blame? The coaches? Sure. After that, then who? The GM? Sure. After that, then who? The underperforming vets? Wait. Isn't there someone else in a leadership role? A captain perhaps? Who's accountable for an underperforming vet? Well, surely that vet is at foremost accountable for their own lackluster production on ice. But beyond that who is accountable? What have they done to address the problem? What results are there to show their actions are effective?
You may call that hypothetical. But let me take you back to the fact that cannot be denied: the Calgary Flames are not in a playoffs spot. That's the whole point of all of this, to make the playoffs and have a shot at the Stanley Cup.
Does Giordano buy his mother flowers on Valentine's Day? I don't care. Are the Flames in the playoffs?

There is an few people who do this, it is not always intentional. Iv'e done it on occasion. I am sure some are a little surprised at GIO's reaction and there are lots of different ways to look at it. He GIO, Stajan could be downplaying it lightly because that's a way of supporting the coach. I guess it is hard to tell. Wouldn't be surprised if GG was laughing about it afterwards too but the bottom line is he is trying new things!
As for the rest of the team I hope they take it to heart and pound the daylights out of the Ducks!
Cannon is just frustrated as many of us and expected a different reaction from the Captain. Probably could have worded it better but still he is a passionate quality poster and I respect his rant just like the coaches!

You’re ****ed if you’re questioning Gio, his leadership, desire to win, compete level or/and the fact he is Captain of the Flames and have lost all credibility if you had any before. I actually question if these people know anything about hockey at all or actually watch the Flames.
There aren’t many players in the world, not just the Flames, but the world who work as hard day in and day out, like Gio.
Pack your ####ty account up and all your Flames gear and head over to HF where there is tons of praise about all their Gio’s they have up north.
Just ####ing disgusting..

I thought I was pretty clear that it was the entire package of manufactured outrage at pure hypotheticals. But as is clear with your last statement here, you're just looking to get juvenile about it now.

I don't really think there needs to be an inquiry at this point honestly. Beyond that I can only repeat: suggesting this (a young team in the middle of the pack half way through the season) somehow falls on Gio for possibly not buying in was an odd and unsubstantiated take.

It's not like Gio just came out and said, I give Gully 10/10 in intensity but not a high score in execution.
The media asked him the freaking question for crying out loud, "what would you score Gully's stick throw"
How the F is he supposed to answer that.. He answered it with comedy which I thought was funny.

If they win tonight GG gets no credit
If they lose he gets most of the blame
This is how 95% of CP will react...They lose its because the coach has lost the room, win and its despite of him.
