Heat back in action Jan. at home vs. San Antonio.

Have to think Parsons gets the start.

Also Foo.

Man for a guy we hoped would push for an NHL job, he's not even producing decent AHL numbers. I know he's a rookie and all, but he's a 23 year old rookie who should be showing more really.

4 forward call ups so far this year and the guy hasn't gotten a sniff. He probably wouldn't even be the next call up if the Flames had to make another, that'd likely be Klimchuk at this point.

He's got another year left on his deal at least, but guys like Poirier, Shinkaruk, Carroll and Smith might be shown the door after the seasons ends.

Heat lose 2-1 in the SO

Lone goal was Shinkaruk from Nowick and Klimchuk.

Gillies made 28 saves on 29 shots.

No goals in the SO for Stockton on 2 attempts.

Will be interesting to see how long Treliving and Pascal allow Stockton to keep this horrendous center depth. All due respect to Nowick and McMurtry, but I doubt they are long term solutions. Lomberg, Cramarossa, Pollock, and Pelley all capable of playing C but shouldn't be counted on in scoring roles. Pribyl could have helped but sounds like he is out for the whole season.

If Hrivik stays up long term, the team is in trouble with Findlay as their top offensive C. They really needed F. Hamilton for some depth.

Might have to try and wait out Arizona and see if they can reclaim Freddie or find someone else via trade.

It sucks, and no doubt they are looking for bodies to help rectify the situation.

But if our farm team sucks because 6 guys have earned a spot on the big club, well, that's awesome. That's what it's there for.

But yeah, shame (for our sake) about Hamilton.

Should be pretty easy for an NHL GM to find a quality centre for the minors, no?

He is either injured or sick. Not sure which. Hasn't played since Dec 29.

Good opportunity for a guy like Foo to assert himself.

I haven’t been following the Heat much, but with so many players up in Calgary, Poirier is only on the 3rd line? Has his play been that bad this year?

Andersson and Wotherspoon are killing it this year, picking up right where they left off last year

Andersson 28gp 4g 17a +16
Wotherspoon 32 gp 4g 16a +21

Wotherspoon has been a good soldier for a long time, I wonder if he’ll ever get a shot

The thing I remember about Wotherspoon in his limited time with Calgary was his inconsistency. If he has smoothed out his mistakes I imagine he will get another shot. Decent guy to have around for depth.

Wotherspoon has been a beast in the AHL. I’d like to see him get a real shot with the big club.

He's in tough. Pretty clear he's been passed by Kulak and Andersson. I suppose at some point they could switch him and Bartowski as the guy who never dresses but even in that role he has competition in Prout who at least brings toughness if they decide to move on from Bartowski.

Poirier with a lot of jump tonight. Had a breakaway but failed to score.
