I'll counter the "sportsmanship" talk
The kid is a winner and it hurt him to lose. No shame in that.

No. How many great, competitive future NHL players have lost to get the silver and done that?
Strange takes from you tonight.

“We need players who hate to lose! That’s the culture you need! Grit! Leadership!”
*19-year-old kid shows how much hates losing*
“What a poor sport”

Looked like he is a loser to me. Who does that? Honestly, that's just inexcusable.

I don't know. How many superstars talk about being proud of getting silver ?
It's my opinion me personally wouldn't launch it. But I also wouldn't be content with a silver at the time

I'd rather have a poor-sport than someone who is comfortable with losing.

There are just some things you learn are acceptable playing hockey growing up and some things it is never acceptable to do under any circumstances (throwing away or disrespecting a trophy, refusing to shake hands to name a few). Not being content is one thing, what he did is just inexcusable.

being disappointed is one thing... being a poor sport is another.
"The kid is a winner and it hurt him to lose"?
So, the kids from last year's Canadian team aren't "winners" and were happy with their silver medals last year? In fact all the kids from canada that won Silver medals in the past aren't 'winners' because they were gracious enough to accept their silver medals?
i feel for the kid, but he should do what most kids do in that situation; accept the medal, put it away and then give it to your parents, grandparents, coaches that helped you along the way.
Or put it in a box in the attic and show it to your grandkids one day
pitching it into the stands right after the game in the medal ceremony is like taking your ball and going home.
Being a "winner" has got nothing to do with that act

Yes be made a mistake he got his medal back and wore it he stood in line and shook hands.
What else do you want a public apology to Canada for offending people ?
