Welcome to the Thrilla in the Dome: Tkachuk vs Doughty in a rematch that is sure to have fans on the edge of thier seats.
THE BIG MATCHUP
Flames LW Matthew Tkachuk vs. Kings D Drew Doughty
Really original, we know. But it’s still a battle worth watching. Winger Matthew Tkachuk has been a force for the Flames this season and stood up for his club in a big way when he dropped his mitts with Anaheim Ducks pest Ryan Kesler. His unspoken feud with Kings defenceman Drew Doughty has been well-documented. These clubs are starting to develop a hate for each other, and these two players are part of what makes this rivalry so heated.

The war of words
"He's a pretty dirty player, that kid," Doughty told Fox Sports' Jon Rosen at the time. "To be a rookie and play like that is a little surprising. I don't know exactly what happened because I got hit in the head, but I thought he elbowed me. I can't tell you for sure, so I'm not going to say if I think anything should happen, but whatever it was, it hurt pretty bad, and it's going to hurt for a little bit."
Tkachuk responds
“I expected more from him, honestly, than to go right to the media and start complaining after a loss,” Tkachuk
told the Calgary Sun. “But he’s a good player. He’s a good enough player where he doesn’t have to worry about any of that stuff. He’s a skilled guy and everything like that, and he’s won a couple of Cups.
“He’s still a real good player, so I don’t think he’ll be too worried about it tomorrow.”
The 19-year-old rookie insisted the comments by Doughty didn’t bother him, though.
“It has no effect on me what (Doughty) says or anybody on their team says,” Tkachuk added to the Sun. “If it was a pretty dirty play… I mean, nobody really did anything about it and nobody on our end really thought it was that bad. But that’s in the past. Tomorrow, it’s just another game and hopefully another game closer to playoffs.”
