That's Max Jones. He's an Anaheim draft pick and he'll fit right in there.

Stupid question. Any concerns that Fox will indeed sign with flames after NCAA?

To be fair the prices are pretty ridiculous.

He'd be hurting himself to stay in the NCAA another 2.5 years. That last year would be a complete waste of time.

So that should help our cause.

There always will be concerns with NCAA guys, but nothing more than any other NCAA guy.

Suppose it may be more likely he stays to get his degree since he is at Havard and once you get to the 4th year, always a chance he just decides to wait a few months until free agency.

A degree from Harvard isn't exactly a waste of time.

And he could still get the degree without putting his hockey career on hold.

Playing 35 games a year in the NCAA without any international games would be such a bad decision.

Fox does at times have that TJ Brodie not shooting disease. He is much more comfortable with the puck at the point than Brodie however.

I recall a Flame bleeding from a highstick last season that apparently didn't warrant a double either for some reason.
The NHL rules is as follows:

Quote:
Double-minor Penalty - When a player carries or holds any part of his stick above the shoulders of the opponent so that injury results, the Referee shall assess a double-minor penalty for all contact that causes an injury, whether accidental or careless, in the opinion of the Referee.
So, it's based on whether an injury results. Typically, that's determined solely based on whether there's blood or not, which can drive me nuts at times - I've seen incidences where a glancing stick causes a tiny bit of blood (but the player clearly wasn't "injured") leading to 4 minute penalty, as well as incidences where a guy has taken a serious whack that's rattled the player, but is only a 2 minute penalty because he didn't bleed.

Extremely calm with the puck, not even sure who you'd compare him to.

He's not the fastest guy in the world (although its less noticable with him than Valimaki) but he's just so good with the puck and smart out there.

Just from this tournament I'd put him ahead of Valimaki as a prospect right now..

Rafalski's been tossed around by scouts.

Interesting that the best Russian Klim Kostin is playing in the AHL this year and only has 11 points in 26 games.

As good as Fox is mentally and offensively, he will have to fix his skating before he has a shot at the NHL. Players are far too quick these days. He'd be exposed nightly.

He has a short stride, so he'll have to work on foot speed or power in each stride. As it stands right now, he'd probably be just OK in the AHL with that speed.

I think he'll need to adapt his game a bit. On that one he has to see the Russian might get the puck and break out and has to start going backwards sooner. It wasn't like the guy just blasted by him, got a step and then out muscled him to the net. You see that same thing happen to Brodie a fair bit in the NHL (the guys getting a step and then out-muscling him).

I do agree with your assessment on his skating just think that play was more a bad read at the offensive blueline rather than a skating issue.
