Huska would be my last choice. Cameron could go too.

With Boomer backing it up, like he did, I’d say something is coming. Boomer rarely puts out info on rumours etc., but when he does it’s because he has concrete info.

It would be pretty awesome to have Sutter back.

Hey Darryl? Want a big fat cheque for 6 months of work at most? Come on. What’re you doing anyways?

Probably doing something that he hasn't done enough of over the last decade or two. Enjoying his millions of dollars and spending time with his family.

I doubt that Sutter would come back to the Flames, let alone for an interim job.

First, Dion doesn't suck; he's a legit top 4 defenseman in the league. He's playing 20 minutes a game on a bottom 5 team and is putting up decent numbers (-2; 0.3 points per game). In contrast, Brouwer is a bottom 6 forward.

Second, Dion's contract isnt a boat anchor. Term is three more years vs two for brouwer...so not really boatload. And he's probably worth $4.5-5.5m per year, so is overpaid by ~$2m for 3 years. Meanwhile, Brouwer is overpaid by $3m per year for the next 2 years. So its pretty subjective as to which one of the two is more overpaid.
You realize Dion would be the highest paid player on the team and would be our 5th no maybe 6th best Dman? Far from over the top of you ask me.

Did Boomer say anything about the coach? I did read him mentioning a winger being on the Flames wishlist.

Yeah i got the jist the Flames might make some big moves with the roster like waive a guy like Brouwer or Stajan and call up some guys from Stockton while looking to trade for a top 6 wing.

Unfortunately I think the coaching change is just something Flames fans want but not being contemplated by management even with this teams record outsodenof 3 on 3

Came to mind that if it is a scoring winger vs a difference maker we can add a couple of possibilities.

Duclair. Probably plan b or c but reportedly available.

Detroit - how long have they been looking for quality d. Tatar and Nyquist are scoring wingers (latter with a ntc). Again, don’t believe a first choice but have the requisite talent to play with Johnny and Mony.

Happy New Year Everyone!

I think it'd be entirely possible to get Ottawa to add to Hoffman for Brodie.

I would hope so. 1 for 1 that deal looks bad for Calgary. Then again I am a Brodie fan

I'd be utterly shocked if a Calgary-Ottawa deal doesn't happen in January. Ottawa desperately needs defenders and Calgary has plenty. With Karlsson potentially planning on leaving, Brodie might be a tempting partner for him and a possible cushion to soften the blow of him leaving. I'd say Hoffman + a high pick could even be a possible return for Brodie if Dorion is feeling desperate.

My shakeup:

Gaudreau Monahan Tkachuk
Bennett Jankowski Ferland
Hathaway Backlund Frolik
Someone Someone Jagr
Someone

Giordano Hamilton
Hamonic Brodie
Kulak Stone
Someone

Everyone else waived. "Someones" (and Frolik) replaced by call-ups.

Does Ottawa have a good goalie prospect knocking on the door? Anderson is 36 years old and I can't imagine Mike Condon is the heir apparent. I wonder if Jon Gillies would hold some nice value to a team without a goalie prospect knocking on the door.

Marcus Hogberg was picked in the 3rd in 2013. Currently splitting time between the ECHL and AHL.
Chris Driedger was picked in the 3rd in 2012. Currently in the AHL with a 3.60 GAA.

I wonder if we could put something together like Gillies + Stone + a prospect without giving up Brodie for Hoffman? Bringing Mark Stone's brother in could be valuable in keeping Mark happy and willing to stay.

I sure hope one win doesn’t change management’s mind on a shakeup. We blew a three goal lead and needed OT to win as a result.

I wouldn't be surprised if Rittich has been generating a few calls from Ottawa lately

Can’t see Hoffmann leaving without a top young player going back in return. Believe other teams would have more attractive packages than what we are able to offer.
