Great, so you want to go back to to the run and gun system Hartley employed? It sure caught everyone off guard initially but once other teams caught on we became the worst defensive team in the NHL. Sure is exciting though to watch the D men chip in a couple points every game while our goalies look like crap and are giving up 6-7 goals a game. Although you might as well let Brodie skate up and try and generate offence, he can't play defence anyhow so might as well get something out of him.

And how is that different from right now? Look at some of the scores from this season, we are giving up 5-7 goals a game sometimes and thats GG's 'Locked-Down-Tight' system?

Buffalo certainly is an interesting team. O'Rielly also makes a lot of sense. 26 year old centre that perhaps allows to fill the Flames scoring needs by shifting Monahan to the wing.
Monahan-O'Reilly-Gaudreau
What would buffalo want? Can the Flames give them a package of prospects, the Flames have D & goaltending prospects knocking on the door (Gilles, Anderson) Plus it seems as though Buffalo's patience for the unending rebuild is wearing thin. A D man with a couple years of development might be an attractive asset to them.

Often. I realize the GG hate is strong right now, but could we stop making stuff up?

Please fire GG, but if they hire Tippet just move the team as well. I’m not watching that.

Why are we moving Monahan to the wing?
That makes no sense whatsoever.

No way do you shift Monahan to the wing.
I don’t think RoR makes sense unless the Flames are moving on from Backlund.
To Buff: Hamilton brothers, Lazar
To CGY: RoR and Reinhart
To Pitt: Backlund
To CGY: 1st, Cole
These deals probably favor Calgary too much but then again Hamilton>>Larson and Hall>>RoR so maybe a slumping Reinhart isn’t too much to include?
Also it appears Pitt is really missing Bonino and Sheehan has been a horrible replacement. Enter Backs who would be a huge add for the Pens in the third line. Flames get a 1st back in the deal and a Dman that can help fill the void lost by losing Hamilton. They can move Brodie to the top pair and play Cole with Hamonic on the 2nd pair. Pitt reportedly is looking to move Cole.

Just because they allow fewer goals relative to the League doesnt mean they arent hemorrhaging goals against.
We never lost 7-5 against the Oilers, 8-2 against the Red Wings, 6-4 against the Stars, 5-2 against the Flyers.
Just to name a few.
All made up.

So Hartley's system in 2014/15 gets us to the second round of the playoffs with above average goaltending. But in 2015/16 when we get the worst goaltending in the league it is all Hartley's fault and the other coaches have "figured him out"?
Treliving was in a hurry to fire Hartley, even going as far as to sabotage him by not resolving the goaltending problem until after he was already fired. Then he replaces a coach with a proven track record and a Stanley Cup ring with a dunce who has never won a playoff game?
Can we put the nonsense that Hartley was a bad coach to rest? He wasn't perfect, surely, but he was a hell of a lot more effective than the hair jell in a suit we have now.
And those saying Hartley was hated and had to go -- all I hear is "the Flames had some whiners and they got their way." Look where giving in to whiners gets us.

I don't think eliminating a couple pieces of the fourth line - who play 8 minutes a night - will do much to change the fortunes of the team.
Many are desparate to rid the team of Sajan, Brower, and others, but these guys play so little and so little is expected of them - it is not because of them that the Flames are struggling.
I agree that changing the coach is the best way to significantly shake up the team.

If you're a Buffalo why would you trade RoR and Sam Reinhardt for two fringe nhlers and dougie Hamilton? Why would they sell that low on a former 2nd overall pick? Might as well just give Reinhardt away.

I dont disagree, but you usually dont have that many games like that in a single season.
My overall point is that the Flames have been completely wild and all over the place. We have some tight low-scoring games and then we have uncontrolled blowouts in both directions.
But that level of inconsistency isnt the typical Hallmark of a well-executed and controlled system.

Stajan and Brouwer both play PK and Gulutzan rolls 4 lines all night long, so they are playing more than 8 minutes a game.

Would you like to name 6 teams that have a well-executed and controlled system? Or would you like to end this made up argument. I get that people are pissed, but there's so much gd nonsense about this team on this board right now from typically sensible posters.
