Or if they completely collapse and the Isles get a top 10 pick then season renewals will also start to collapse and then they can start building the case "to move". Maybe i am over the top, but i cannot comprehend a team with so much "talent" not even bother to show urgency or generate a shot before a power play in the third period.

I think talking about getting rid of the green bin is more realistic.

Sigh... what else to say other than just let out a sigh?
5 shots to start, 7 to finish. That's not awful. That's putrid.

Ralph Krueger sure made Team Europe look fantastic last year. He also coached the awful Oilers to an improved season during the lockout shortened year, followed by a huge drop off when Eakins took over.

This is probably accurate. I think Mike Keenan has a better system to win in the NHL than GG does. GG=NG, always has for the Flames, always will.

If there's one thing that Bob Hartley was, he was a terrific salesman. He was able to sell me on Steve Begin being a "good NHL 'ard-workeeng guy", and I was glad to watch him. He was able to sell me on the Flames even as they lost eight straight in December of 2014, with his constant repetition of "wurr dah Flames, we'll gedd back on track"... and I believed him. He was able to sell me during the second intermission that "even tho' we-yurr down by two goal, wurr dah Flames"... and I was on the edge of my seat until the final second.
I was totally apathetic watching the end of this game, because I've never been inspired by Gulutzan as a salesman. He has never sold me on this team. Speaking as a guy who's met both Gulutzan and Hartley, they're both very nice people... but Hartley sort of had an aura around him of a man who knew how to inspire somebody, who could convince you to trade him two dimes for a nickel. Gulutzan has never given me that impression. (Darryl Sutter never has, either, for what it's worth, and neither has Tippett.)
I'm a firm believer that all great motivation comes from charisma. Bob Hartley absolutely oozed charisma. Even if I wasn't a fan of his systems, he could always get the most commitment out of me as a fan.

Even if that happened we’d still have the same terrible system and no identity to the team.

Hartley devised a system to squeeze talent out of an untalented and green group of players. It subsequently doomed him in the eyes of his GM.
I have no doubt Hartley would be able to devise a more robust system with the current assembly of talented players.
He did the best with what he was given.

Even Gio couldn't save Brodie at this point, his game has regressed so badly I hope they deal him while he still has a reputation from prior years. How many times did he do his stupid slap it off the boards to nobody tonight? Too many. He skates really well, and nothing else.

That would go along with a coaching change. Giordano and harmonic are not movable. So that leaves Brodie or Hamilton.
Kulak and andersson are good enough already that I'm comfortable losing one of them. We need a finisher. Monahan is the only one on the team and he looks like he doesn't give a #### half the time.
Those two guys are the only trade pieces we have left

GG has won 4 more regular season games than he has lost in his NHL coaching career. Of course he is 0-4 in the playoffs, making him a .500 coach.
127 wins and 127 losses.

I think his system would actually work now that we have good depth. It was always a lack of skill that screwed us back then. Imagine if we could actually cycle on top of his transition game

What are you talking about? I haven't had a problem with Giordano all season, he's been by far and away this team's best and most consistent defender.

There's probably no single move that would get more more excited and optimistic about the future of the team than hiring Krueger. But it's not gonna happen. However much he loves hockey, he's in a way bigger role in a way bigger league right now.

Ya I’m on board with trading either or both of Brodie and Hamilton. Things are rotten and team needs a shake up desperately.

Would love him to be the coach, but he's running a team now so I doubt he wants to coach in the NHL anytime soon.

Only problem with Gio is he bobbles the puck at the blue line in the offensive zone more than I like but whatever he's fantastic everywhere else.

Backlund, Brodie, Hamilton, Monahan and Johnny are part of the core but they are all soft players. We might have the softest core in the NHL.
