Well that wouldn't explain signing Brouwer, trading for Lazar, or playing Bartkowski.

Maybe the Flames should be paying more attention to advanced stats.

In the scenario where it’s on the players and a team issue isn’t it th GMs job to remedy it by shaking things up?

It’s gotta be one of tre or gg, cause if it’s the players it’s either management or coaching job to resolve the issue

After tonight, the whole organization should be embarrassed. Like they should legit mail back tonight’s revenue to the season ticket holders with a card that expresses how sorry they are for wasting people’s time.

Not to the extent of that one memorable instance last season. "A pathetic performance, we were pathetic tonight, etc." that kind of a thing. You can rip them behind closed doors, which he could very well do, who knows, but ripping them publicly once in a blue moon and embarrassing them can absolutely help get better efforts. We've had zero consistency and half the season is gone now.

If the players are underperforming and you fire the coach does that tell the players that they need to be better or does it let them off the hook by putting the blame on someone else though?

That was an embarrassing effort by the Flames. For the first 50 some odd minutes they were standing around with candy canes up their arse. Zero energy and zero jump. Should have been a bag skate after the Habs left the ice AND in front of any fans still left in the building.

The players knew the importance of finishing on a high note before Christmas but instead were focused on the Christmas break coming up.

Bullocks!!

Someone please explain to me why 100% of being mentally ready to start a game is on the head coach.

If the players are already mentally on holidays, it doesn’t matter what GG says before the game. The players need to be accountable as well but I get it, it’s easier to blame the coaching staff every season.

Playing Bartkowski is absolutely mind BOGGLING BOTTLING buffoonery.
He was beyond pathetic. Down to the AHL for you, Andersson come on up.

From the highlights I saw, there were way too many puck watchers and guys not skating. Score was flattering to the Flames.

This may as well have been a blowout win by the Habs because the Flames were god awful.

I scrutinize losses more than wins now. Wins are always good, I won’t be too hard on them ever.

The losses are where the story is told. If they are close, they are hard fought, it’s a positive sign and very telling. Much like their last several games where they have played well, but more results could’ve easily gone their way.

But it’s games like this (and the last debacle versus the Oilers) that give me concern. Poor effort, energy, and execution. Not mentally prepared. And laying these eggs in front of the home fans far too many times.

Kulak really struggled tonight. The Canadiens fourth line was very good, ours was the usual. I wonder at what point Treliving will decide to do what needs to be done to try to ice the best fourth line possible, instead of recycling the usual suspects that have proven their mediocrity. Bring up Hrivik and Mangiapane or Klimchuk, waive and demote Freddie, Lazar.

The fourth line can win or lose hockey games.

This is the kind of game where it's absolutely justified for the Flames to ask Calgarians for free stadium money. Totally worth it.

I can't believe the Flames didn't even call Bruce Boudreau.

Ok, so it’s on the gm to shake it up?

Gotta be one of the two.

Bullocks!!!! It falls on the players this time. The players knew the importance of finishing strong before the Christmas break.
