Simmonds would be nice, but he gets a 12-team no-trade list and I imagine Calgary's probably on there.
The Flames have their top four locked up for the next three years, with prospects in the A already chomping at the bit and eyeing a potential trade for one of them. There is no need for Enstrom on the Flames whatsoever.
Furthermore, Backlund is not leaving this team unless it's an absurd overpayment, which a rental defenceman and a 2nd does not amount to.
.... but Backlund is also a "rental" unless he re-signed and it's a secret?
Brodie + Shink + F. Hamilton to DET
Mantha + 4th Pick to CGY
Or just tell Mantha he has been traded to Calgary and have Hamonic pick him up at the airport.... When Mantha fails to show up back in Detroit deny he was ever in Calgary.

To Calgary: Daniel Sprong
To Pittsburgh: Dillon Dube or Andrew Mangiapane
Flames would probably have to add a bit.
Trade purely based on sentiment. I want to see to only NHL player ever that I share my birthplace with in a Flames uniform
I have seen sprong play many times. He can really skate, stick handle and wire the puck. Whether the Pens have taught him to play away from the puck, I can’t say.

What else do you think we would have to give up? If anything?
Less. Much less. That's like an Oiler level self-ripoff trade as it sits.
24 year old top pair defenceman on a long term deal who puts up as many points as the 30 year old forward you'd be trading for? That alone would be terrible without even adding the good goalie prospect on top.

Has any one watched Jordan Nolan play? I was on cap friendly checking out the Buffalo roster and i was drawn to him hes a big boy 6"3 219 can play all 3 fowards position but i don't remember if i have ever watched him play or how is is playing this year. HUGE long shot but how about maybe him and
Ryan O'Reilly for Troy Brouwer, Adam Ollas Mattsson , Linden Vey . Yay or nay or good to bed krynn ur drunk lol
I can see Hamilton being the guy the Flames move in the offseason. They are strong on the right side with Hamonic and Stone but also in the system with Anderson (close to ready) and Fox. There is also the fact Brodie plays better on his offside.
I like Dougie and he has been pretty solid for Calgary. Dare I say the best trade the Flames have made in over a decade? I think of what they gave up and what they could get for him in a deal.
Like I have mentioned in the past moving him at the draft for a high pick to take Tkachuk and the Flames likely can get a plus to that pick. Toronto really wants a player like Dougie so the Flames could entertain either Nylander or Marner in return? Buffalo is another option and RoR retained would be a nice return possibly get a 2nd back as well?
Calgary has done a nice job of building a decent blueline on the big club and the system. Good chance both Valimaki and Anderson push for spots so they could move on from one of their top 4 and non one brings back the return of Hamilton
