Woah, woah, woah. Let's not get rational here or anything.

Care to back either of these ridiculous statements up?
Why do people have to add garbage like that to their posts?

Even though Treliving was at the podium announcing names that 2014 draft was not his. Treliving has hired at the end of that year, therefore he did not instruct scouts in the early season meetings what kind of players he wanted.
Burke fired Feaster and Weisbrod in December and later on they had the amateur scouting meetings. This is when the GM outlines what kind of players he wants.
That's why you see big guys like Hunter Smith, Ollas Mattsson drafted by Burke and why you see in Treliving's drafts they would choose guys like Phillips and Mangiapane.
No disrepsect to Burke but he wanted the big guys and I think I read somewhere that they wouldn't be drafting 5'9" guys anymore.
2014 draft was all Burke's the later drafts are all Treliving and you can see the slight difference is philosphies (Treliving will take a shot on smaller guys but he likes a big team too),

Good to hear. Not a Nucks fan in the slightest but felt bad to see him crawl off like that.
Boeser Calder watch is still on for Vancouver fans to have something to cheer about.
I would never wish an injury to an opposing team player suffered from our player accidental or otherwise. Hockey gods would remember.

It's okay, not everyone knows how to read.
Firstly, Gretzky comparable and bust are two opposite sides of a spectrum. My point was a wait and see approach rather than jumping the gun every time a player has a cold or hot streak (myself included).
As for the talk about future, post #193.
It's okay though, everyone needs help once in a while

??? That post says nothing more than he's been on of the more productive players in the NHL over the last 3 weeks. Which is a fact. Nothing Gretzky about that claim.
The bust word however was used time and time again for months on this forum.

I was down by like 25pts in my weekly H2H matchup heading into Sunday's game.
I have on my team: Gaudreau, Bennett, Ferland, Brodie, Dougie.
So this sums up my night pretty well... ended up winning on the PP goal.

Good, I'd hate to see Vancouver tank the season and end up with a high pick. This way boeser keeps them competive and finish about 6th from bottom

The distinction I'm drawing is that prior to Jankowski-Bennett breaking out, we had:
Scoring line (Monahan)
Two-way line (Backlund)
Garbage (Bennett)
Garbage (Stajan)
Now we have:
Scoring line (Monahan)
Scoring line (Jankowski)
Two-way line (Backlund)
Garbage (Stajan)
You might still see Backlund's line pass Jankowski's in minutes (particularly to close out games that we're winning), but they no longer have to be our shut down line and the secondary scoring threat at the same time. It's a huge change in dynamic.

Agreed. Having 3 successful lines is infinitely more effective than 2 good lines. It's crazy how much of a difference proper slotting makes

Giordano had a great game and the power play looked much better with him on the top unit, instead of Brodie. Lots of point shots and opportunities because Giordano isn't afraid to shoot. Hope they keep the units as they were last night!

Don't look now, but that 4th line is no longer getting hemmed in their own zone all game, and zapping the energy right out of the team. No idea what the advanced metrics are, but I would say in the last handful of games, that 4th line has been at the very least holding its' own, if not pushing the pace more often than not.
Flames haven't had a regular 'garbage' line in at least a handful of games, and that is really refreshing to see (and at the start of the season, I felt that the 4th line would have been a good one, but have been tremendously disappointed since the start of the season).

Giordano should consider himself lucky. I was about to hunt him down and beat him down, but now i don't need to.

Gio was a beast last night, that was a bull by the horns game for him. When he’s on like that he’s really one of the best and inspires his teammates. As befits a captain. Much respect.
Bennett and Jankowski are only going to get better, as a pairing AND as they both get stronger, physically. Janko still hasn’t filled out, a late bloomer as has been noted forever—but one doesn’t see it that often, at the NHL level, so it’s still notable. Bennett has all the tools but—and I may well be alone thinking this—his drive/compete level needs a boost. I think that comes as he continues to build muscle mass.
My chief concern among the core remains one TJ Brodie.
