Cam Atkinson has to be re-signed by the BJs, and their GM is pretty tough. Only makes $3.5 now, and he's off to a bit of a slow start. Is he as good as his numbers last year or is he a product of Wennberg and Panarin?
|
Cam Atkinson already re-signed with the BJs, 7years/41 million.

Not me. I’d take Kane all day.

Me neither. I don't see what JVR brings that Ferland doesn't and Ferly does it with more speed.

Taking a while to get to 5000

The Flames want to be a grittier team. Tougher to play against. Whoever they go after will need to have that sandpaper. Doesn't necessarily mean they'll be a tough guy, just more of a grinder.

Also reported that Calgary is on JVR's No trade list. If he is going to sign a deal in Calgary then he is going to want more money than he can get from his preferred destinations.

Not sure if James Neal would consider testing out FA seeing how well Vegas has performed but he's still my #1 target via trade/FA if he becomes available. If we are gonna throw a $6 mill contract at a winger, I'd rather have it be him.

I feel LV will probably want to lock him up at some point in time before he gets to free agency.

Problem is teams that have those guys realize their value and won't give them up for peanuts.
We really missed out during Feaster's reign of error in 2013 with those 2 late firsts. Ryan Hartman (rh shot to boot) was there but the smartest guys in the room passed on him.
One guy that might be available is Andrew Shaw. RW and plays that kind of game. Montreal would want a premium for him and may not even be interested in moving him now that they seem to be rolling. Would you do Brodie for him? We may not want to but that might be the kind of acquisition cost for that kind of a player. Can see us having to part with skill and it would be a Hall-Larsson kind of move where people would be howling about the pitiful return.

WTF?
I wouldn't do Brett Kulak for Andrew Shaw.
That valuation of Brodie is beyond off.
Montreal would be lucky to complete a Brouwer / Shaw trade considering Brouwer has less term remaining.

What? The Habs would give away Andrew Shaw at this point and you want to deal Brodie for him?

Scoring Winger
|
Yeah... I don't see Shaw as anything more than a good 3rd liner. He's the kind of guy fans would be frustrated to see in the top 6 all the time because he's not skilled enough but the coaches like his 'grit'.

We are most certainly not giving away Brodie for a grit winger that has never scored more than 40pts in his career, even if he is finally on track to break that record this year.

He did sign A 5.875 M / Season deal and since then has been a healthy scratch for a game. He also did not play with Panarin last year.

I wouldn't be surprised if Vegas & Neal have already agreed on a new deal and ate just waiting to announce it.
Either way I think he resigns with them how this year is going so far

In all your guy's opinion what do you think it would cost to get Wayne Simmonds out of the Philly ?

I don't necessarily want to deal Brodie for him. I was trying to point out that to acquire one of these heart and soul guys probably results in us parting with a skill player which would make the trade seem overly lopsided, similar to the Hall-Larsson deal.
Shaw is a 1/2 point a game player which given the way the game is going is not bad production. Point was that if you want something that is in short supply (skill and toughness), you will have to pay a premium to get it.

Gaudreau + Monahan.
If I'm Philly, Simmonds is simply untouchable.

They won’t be able to sign him, the price on the other hand will be high in trade.
We don’t have the depth to get this done IMO.

I’d be hard pressed to take Simmonds + + + (Patrick + 1st + Ghost) for Monahan and Gaudreau... that’s terrible
