Bull. This team has more than enough skill on it. The problem exists with the asinine systems the uber stubborn coaching staff continue to rely upon. They have some very good skill on the third line that the coaching staff look right past, because they are young. How in the world do these incompetent boobs not look at the offense generated by players on lines and make better decisions on the players out on the PP? Jankowski creates something almost every time he's on the ice. Bennett is bear to handle on those one-on-one battles, much like Tkachuk. Kulak is one of the few defensemen who actually manages to get a damn shot on net from the point with any consistency when he's on the ice. The talent and pieces are there, it's up to the damn coaches to figure out ways to use it.

Got obliterated and barfed a bunch last night. Still sounds like a better decision than watching the game.

As mentioned after last game:

Tkachuk and Hamilton are severely under used while Brouwer/Brodie are severely over used by the 3 clown circus behind the bench.

Tkachuk and Hamilton can be major difference makers on the #1 PP.

Run the PP through Gaudreau on the right side flank, with Monahan in his office in the slot, Tkachuk in front of the net in the area he excels, with Gio on the right point and Hamilton on the left point/flank. Have 1 timer options on the point and can also work it down low on either side with Gaudreau/Hamilton who are very good on the PP. Could also set up Hamilton sneaking in from the point when Gaudreau has it...so many options and ways to set up scoring plays with that mix.

Have Brodie-Stone on the 2nd unit with Backlund and 2 of Frolik/Ferland/Benett/Jagr/Janko.

It's really not rocket science. Unless you're Dave Cameron and GG2.0.
Do you actually look at the game sheet before you post?

Hamilton was underused but still managed to have more PP time than any other dman not named Giordano and what did he do with this time?

Not a thing more than any other player that played less time.

That gif of Dallas Eakins morphing into Glen Gulutzan says it all. I cannot believe he's still employed.

I think Calgary4Life said it best. The team is playing well, but the results aren't there, and for better or worse, this is a results oriented business. That means that a change needs to be made if a few more losses pile up. I also agree that this team shouldn't be fighting for it's playoff lives, so if they miss this year, clearly the coaching staff needs to go. I hope it doesn't come to that, because I largely like most of what Gulutzan and co. have implemented as a system. This is a winning hockey style. It just needs some finish. If this group can't figure out a way for these guys to finish, then they're not good enough.

I'm hopeful that this is just a rough patch and that this team will start to string some wins together heading into the new year. It starts tonight against Vancouver.

Wow. I'm just starting to watch but the part at around 13:00 about messaging and how it translates into identity is exactly right.

Albeit, Mike Smith kept us in the game and his effort should be noted. I'm not a negative person, but this was absolutely terrible.
Disagreed. I think the Flames played decent all night with good defense and was skating all night. Hitting four frigging posts were extremely unusual.

I still blame the powerless PP. Should we score a couple, plus the four posts it could have been 6-2 for the Flames.

Get rid of Cameron !

This is junk. Is this what the GlueGun is telling Treliving?
Moral victories such as outplaying your oponents are nice in kids’ sports but not in the NHL when your team is out of the playoffs and sliding further down the standings.

Underlying stats look good, yet the results aren't there. How long do you hang onto the hope the good underlying stats equals more wins?

Methinks this season is too important to gamble on a turnaround and a new coach needs to be brought in for a shake up.

By the way, where's the offense from the D? Is GG not giving them the green light to jump into the play?

This season has been disappointing. I'm hoping for a turnaround, but I highly doubt one will happen without a coaching change.

I hope Brad isn't too proud to can his own guy to try and salvage the season.

We just played the Stanley Cup favorites in my opinion. And we weren't good enough.

Need to improve.

I didn't think it was a bad game but overall not good enough. I thought we were very competitive for the most part and had some bad . The power play was pathetic especially the 5-3. Get Brodie off of the PP, no shot and too slow moving the puck, nothing is crisp.

Nashville is a very good team, top 3 in the league in my opinion and we hung with them. I liked the jam we played with and defensively we didn't have many breakdowns. A little unlucky on the score sheet really but none of that really matters. This team needs to start winning on a consistent basis, no if ands or buts about it.

Start with embarrassing the Canucks. Flames should be pissed and take it out on the Canucks.

The Preds’ defence was just way better than ours. Whenever the Flames were pressing and close to Rinne, there always seemed to be a Preds’ defenceman between the Flame and the net. Not the case at the Flames’ end.

This would be an idiotic decision because with the openness of 3 on 3, there is just as good of a chance of the puck going in your own net

So unlike a lot of the arm chair scotty bowman's in this thread, I can't really tell you what their "systems" are (and neither can most, if not all of you).

That said, their power play is getting very little penetration to the net, there are a lot of point shots (that aren't getting through) but nothing in the slot. Jagr made a couple of passes from below the goal line that turned into chances but aside from that it was around the perimeter until there was a lane, pound at the net, repeat. They've been doing this for a few games now and it's not working (nor are they generating quality chances on the PP). I think this needs to be addressed

And the other team only needs to outlast you, so obviously they aren't going to be as aggressive. idiotic doesn't even begin describe it.
