Solid period by the Flames, and the effort is definitely there. Unfortunately these guys couldn't score in a brothel. We need a bounce in the worst way. Just put one in off somebody's arse or something. Anything.

That 4th line surprised me that period. Generating decent pressure and not a liability.

My impression was that Jankowski replaced Brouwer on the 1st unit. Am I just seeing things again?

ACtualy it’s been pretty entertaining, Flames usually put in a solid first, now just hope there is no intermission nap time and they come out and play a solid second.

Chunky is dialed in this game. He must be so frustrating to play against.

PP is breaking down at the point.
Poor possession, distribution, with needless give always.

Great first period. Horrible luck. 2 posts and a lot of grade A chances that just didn't make their way into the net.
Moreover, they stymied the Preds game plan for the most part.
Now the question remains, can they do it for the full game? If they do, they should win.

He did. But it's otherwise the same players, in the same positions, with the same breakout, attempted zone entry, and offensive zone strategy.

Why do we start every game with Jankowski on the PP and end it with Brouwer? Hoping they give the kid a chance to stick there and make it work. Must be hard only getting 1 crack per game then blowing it up but we see pairings like Brodie and Hamonic being slammed through no matter what.

Nashville playing right on the edge of complete punks/dirty Ducks type of game

Solid period against a strong team. Nice to see the defence of the last 5 games is back again. I maintain they have turned a corner there. The Grade A scoring chances they were giving up frequently before then just isnt happening anymore and it's nice to see.
Baby steps on the power play as this one generated a little bit but that's only in comparison to what were the last handful of games.

You are correct. Had some nice movement until Janko lost the puck along the boards and they changed. Tkachuk got a nice rebound chance after on the PP.

I would rather get dominated in a scoreless first period and regroup than dominate and let the Preds regroup. Sigh.

Good pressure on the delayed call, dougie gets some good chances and a good slap pass to ferland for a good chance, but nope lets take off dougie to start pp. My word..

Except put Ferland in the Brouwer spot and move Janko to the Versteeg/Ferland spot. But yeah, virtually nothing.

Why not dominate a scoreless first and continue in the second?

He does that for 1 PP a game, then reverts back to the same old thing when they don’t score
