I love how good defence for the Flames now means two players at a time drawn to the puck carrier and just leaving players wide open near the net. Is there that little faith that each other can mark a man? Or is it just good old fashion laziness?

Well to be fair, we often see Gulutzen changes things up when the team is flat and trailing in the 3rd.
Hell, game 2 of the season turned in the 3rd because Lazar started playing with Bennet and Gaudreau and they dominated. We've seen Jagr up with Monahan and Gaudreau often as well.

Vegas wins again.
Maybe Nenshi has a grand plan. No arena so Flames move. After the next election we get a new arena and an expansion team. New team makes the playoffs in its first year.

The problem is we are a 3 lines team and Gulutzan rolling 4 lines.

This is true, I guess I get the home team bliders on and just want to see SOMETHING different when we are struggling. It was nice to see a positive change up in the third which lead to a goal.

Fourth line wasn't an issue tonight, even before the line juggling. The first line was the crappiest in the second period IMO. Mainly because of Ferland.

I dunno. This is the same team we've been seeing for a while. They hover around this level. I feel like this is what its going to be this season. We can hope they get into the playoffs.
That was one boring ass game though. I am finding it tough to commit to the advanced stats era of hockey sometimes.

Canadian rebuild syndrome.
The Flames weren't ready to go all in. This is what happens when you get ahead of yourself in the middle of a rebuild.
I still think they're a good team and they make the playoffs. Although they look to be trending to a wild card spot again. It's easy to get upset by this but look at the teams in front. Vegas and LA are top 5 NHL teams. Heading into the season who honestly felt Calgary was going to be one of the best teams in the league? If you did you were just setting yourself up for disappointment.

honestly this game by itself wasn't bad...could have gone either way
I have just said that way too many times, at some point the Flames will need to put some wins together. Its just too hard for them to score, they need to play the perfect game to win and it just isn't realistic. Mistakes are gonna happen....2 or 3 goals against shouldn't be a guaranteed loss.

Monahan had a couple chances and missed, same with Backlund. Their finish has been off for three games now. I expect it to return though.

Go tell that to the Flames management group who traded away picks to move into that next level. NVM misread post.

I really think the coaching staff need to start holding guys responsible for poor, sloppy play. Ferland and Brodie should have been relegated tonight, it was clear from the first period both guys were fighting the puck and the level of compete from Ferland was horrible.
Also, the coaching staff needs to start rewarding guys who seem to give a crap. Jankowski, Bennett, Hathaway, Gio and Stone should have started the next power play after that disgusting display we saw on with the two man advantage. Stop rewarding guys when they play like crap and their give a damn meter appears to be low.
