There is no rule that the shooter can't skate backwards.
Agree with many posters: some tough luck and a terrible PP cost them a point. This PP needs to be fixed and 1 PP goal would have meant a win in regulation.

Which is a requirement of beating an NHL goalie and the majority of what they practice (shooting to the outside inch of the net).

Just throw the guy on your ignore list instead of quoting him, it keeps bumping his useless posts.

PP requires skill
Brouwer has very little skill.

Is Monahan and Gaudreau on the second unit? Man I don't know who's missing the mark more. Ferland on that open net or you in this post game thread.

It was hard to tell for sure but it looked like the puck flipped on its side just as he shot it.
Tough break.

Lazar seriously has stone hands, he basically had a 2 on 1 with stajan for a split second but had a clear lane to the net and can't even put it on net. Why did we waste a 2nd on him? He's a clear example of making a trade at the deadline just to make a trade.

I can live with that in a regular season game they got a point but that would be pure torture if it happened in a playoff game.

Whatever happened to Flames Draft Watcher? He used to be an every day contributor and has not been around for a while. Was a solid poster, hope he is ok.

It sucks in international hockey too. Find my posts on it in the 2017 WJC gold medal game thread. I was complaining about the possibility of a shootout deciding that game before OT even ended.

Stone has a cannon for a shot and should be on the PP.

I believe he was only on the last PP.
Jankowski was on the first few.

Brouwer didn't get pp time until the 3rd one, because the first two were ineffective. 3rd pp was probably the most dangerous one. This team is really missing Versteeg, he was great at distributing the puck and a great at gaining the zone.
Wild were lucky in this one, you have to imagine Monahan won't miss those regularly.

I know the effort was there and we've looked better of late defensively but gotta start finishing. We're on the outside looking in again. Time to put it all together.

Silver lining...Flames D was stifling. I can honestly say that I do not feel overly concerned that we will give up a goal 5v5 like I was earlier in the year. We need Jagr on the PP.
