Ferland has a better release from the halfwall, although he does have good net front presence so I see your point. I'd have Janko on the 2nd PP instead of Bennett.
We could beat this thing to death and all have slightly different opinions...which is fun.
All I know is Stone should at least have some reps on the PP.

Yes, did he get hurt on the Monday Tuesday bag skate? Brutal. I'll bet he's super happy about that.

I was excited as anyone when #68 arrived here but I have to be honest, I have to squint pretty hard right at the moment to see that Jagr is a better option than Hathaway on that 3rd line now.
It seems like he'll have one decent game and then he slows down and really seems to labour out there for a couple games.
I don't mean any disrespect, the guy is 45 years old. That's like 62 in NHL years.

Maybe not, but if a player can't handle a bag skate, it probably means that they can't give 100% on the ice either. Sucks that he's injured again, but the end result if he wasn't in the bag skate is a player who would be either holding back during the next game, or gets injured in the next game.
With the way the team was playing, you can't blame any coach for a bag skate. And the results from the last two games also supports that. Sucks, but the right move.

Yea, he's great on the cycle but it pretty much ends there

Nieuwendyk Spent many of his first 5+seasons in front of the net on the power play and getting a bunch of his 31 pp goals rookie year cleaning up and taking tons of cross checks where he had to get the extra back protector... similar to Dino C. Wish I could find where he scored all his goals from.
Likely jankowski could do something similar as old 25 used to do for the Flames with his skill & hands.
I wouldn't ever put brower on pp at this point in his career.

I think it was a fairly short, but last game we did see Gio and Brodie back together on the PP. Disappointing to see it not be practiced, but will be interesting to see if that line is rolled on the PP again.

Brouwer has 20 more pounds or so. If your job is to screen, you need to be immoveable. If the Flames played more of a two men deep on either side system, yeah, Jankowski.
I think they should give Jankowski PK time though.
ETA: if the they use Jankowski on the Pp they should play him on the second unit with Bennett to keep developing chemistry.

If that's not the case then I am baffled as well
Does anyone know if he was on the PP in Arizona?
|
Stone had 14 PP points in 2015-16, just before he blew out his knee. He was however OEL's sidekick on that PP, not the quarterback.

I believe there was an article or tweet about this. After missing last game or this one, he can’t pass the record anymore this season. Unless he plays next year, he’s not making it.

1. Gordie Howe 1,767
2. Mark Messier 1,756
3. Ron Francis 1,731
4. Jaromir Jagr 1,728
Flames have 53 games left.
1,728 + 53 = 1,781
Jagr can miss 13 more games and still pass Howe.

What you likely saw is people speculating that he likely won't make it at this point when it's clear he'll be missing lots of games along the way with minor ailments.
As AC showed he could make it if all goes well.

If Stone would hit the net more often I'd be ok with this. I don't know the stats but it seems like he misses the bet a lot on his slapshots.

Nieuwendyk's hand-eyes coordination was phenomenal, he scored most of his net front goal by tipping McInnis's shot front the point.

I didn't know he's not accurate, but Brouwer loses pucks more often than not amount to the same result though, right?

agreed.
I don't know if comparing Janko to a guy who earned his spot in the HHOF at this point. Niewendyk is one of the best at deflections and in front net presence to have ever played imo. Imagine if he played in an era where d weren't allowed to chop, hack, interefere, etc when he was in front of the net.
