IMO that's the best result we could have realistically hoped for.

Tkachuk should continue to piss players off, but he needs to avoid these things.

That sounds reasonable to me. Basically treat it is as a delayed game misconduct.

I appreciate the style of play he brings, but these plays are becoming selfish. He needs to be smarter. He hasn't scored a goal since Nov 9. Need him to focus his attention on that rather than becoming a league's most hated player

The way some people here excuse the behaviour of 19 year olds, and how doing dumb and reckless things on the job is just in their nature, any employer would be crazy to hire a 19 year old to work on an oil rig, around heavy machinery, or doing anything remotely dangerous.

Super easy problem to fix. Just keep it on the ice.

No worries.

He's a bastard, but he's OUR bastard. I feel like all 31 teams would take him in a heartbeat. Lucky us.

NHL video says that the spear itself wasn't worthy of suspension except for the fact that Tkachuk was on the bench and he was suspended for a similar offense 10 days earlier.

it was a dumb play. He needs a good talking to about picking his spots. I love that he plays "edgy" but he needs to learn when to do it and when not to.

Hopefully he understands soon.

I thought they might go 2 just because of the close timing from his last incident. If it was any other player without his history, it might not even have been a fine.

Hopefully, he learns from these events and figures out where the line is.

As Gulutzan said last year, "You'd rather tame a mustang than beat a mule."

Are you nuts? He speared a guy from the ####ing bench. It's elite levels of dumb and anything but "barely nothing.

The main downside is he's quickly piling up previous offences with weak/questionable incidents. If/when he actually delivers a suspendable hit, he's going to get the book thrown at him.

Pleasantly surprised that it is only one game. Hopefully he learns from this, but I doubt it.

Lots, if not most 19 year olds would do dumb stuff on an oil rig too, that's probably why you don't see a lot of 19 year olds with careers. Some are more mature than others. That's life.

NHL has lots of history suspending repeat offenders....

Very few have had the "book thrown" at them.

However, he will get suspended for offenses that players without history would have obtained fines IMO.
