Can anyone even see the blade of his stick?
It may appear like he's spearing but he could argue that someone tried to pull his stick out of his hands. You never know, that could have happened.
If he did actually spear then that's a different story.

You ever been "poked" with a stick in the torso? It's a suspendable offence.

Wouldn't be the first time NHL justice made a call based on assumptions. Refs continually make calls on what they think happened, case and point the Flames Philly game. We got 7 minutes worth of penalties that we didn't deserve.

I was curious about this as well and just assumed that he did spear based on others comments, even though I haven't actually seen a video that shows the blade of the stick either.

Why do people like you think "other people did stupid things" is an actual argument? We're not talking about other people hypothetically doing things. We're talking about what Matt Tkachuk did. Barely three weeks after getting suspended for similar reasons. He's taking himself out of the lineup, and actively hurting the team. That deserves criticism. Even if it hurts your feelings too.

Compared to the crosscheck to the head he took from Landeskog, Tkachuk should get a -1 game suspension.
I get that it wasn't very smart of him but personally I would have a hard time accepting a 3-5 game supsension for this 'minor' offence.
I'm twice the age of Matthew but I still get myself in the same sort of trouble when playing football (soccer)
Still my favourite Flame.

Most Likely same lineup as yesterday with Jagr in for Chucky if he's good to go.

He is going to get 1 game.
It was barely anything. No one probably would have noticed the incident if it wasn't a game agains Toronto.

Yes I have...old guy remember? It's in my post. I have been hurt by an actual spear in fact and it sucked. This was not that.
I am specifically referring to the two "spears" Tkachuk has been involved in the last couple weeks...the tap on the calf against Detroit and the one to the torso of Matt Martin where he said he didn't even feel it.
I also mentioned the media...it was worse the first time around with the sensationalist "Tkachuk starts wild line Brawl with a Spear on Whatshisnuts"

Regardless, I don't know how anyone can look at this and not think it was one of the stupidest plays they've seen from a young player. He JUST did this... on someone's skate, and got a game. Like... I can't even wrap my head around it.
Bring some intensity to your on ice play, he's averaging a single hit a game this month, he isn't playing how he can.

Fair point about the media.
Outrage = profit. So make sure that you harvest as much outrage as possible.

Rest on a back-to-back for Chucky. He'll be missed tonight though.
