Aside from Kane or Reinhart... Could Tre be eyeing Jason Pominville as a cheap scoring depth addition / Versteeg replacement? RHS RW, 7 goals and 15 points in 28 games. 2 years left at about 5.5M. Probably would have to send Brouwer back to make the money work.
Just spitballing, haven't watched him in a few years so don't know if it makes sense

Looking at the NHL roster of buffalo, there isn't a fit for calgary that immediately jumps out. I wouldn't be surprised if BT is just showing enough interest to get the buffalo GM to mention a calgary roster player first.
And then snipe an up and comer.

I have read articles about his struggles. He is also a consistent minus player with underwhelming offensive stats. On top of that he has had some injury concerns.
His older brother put up quadruple the points in the AHL and was always a plus player and he is struggling enough defensively to be on the 4th line in Toronto.
Would you pay a 2nd rounder for Nylander right now ? I sure would not.

Alex Nylander's PP one-timer would instantly be the best this team has had from a forward since Iginla.
I would pay a first for him, if we hadn't blown that on a #4/#5 tweener defenseman.

I want Evander Kane, and I want him extended for like 6 years.
Our wingers for the next few years:
Gaudreau/Ferland
Tkachuk/Frolik
Bennett/Kane
...that’s a beautifully talented group and with Ferland/Tkachuk/Bennett/Kane, they’re as aggressive as they are talented.
That’d be rad.

He didn't make the NHL roster due to play. It was due to I jury all through camp and preseason and parts of the season. He's in the AHL for essentially his training camp to get caught up.

Troy Brouwer and Kris Versteeg can't play good enough defense to make an NHL roster either tbh
Nylander would be a good pickup if BT could buy low, but I don't really see why Buffalo would move him

I honestly think we need to go after a RH winger. All of our good forwards are LHed and Dube, Mangiapane, Klimchuk and Poirier are as well. Our only hope is Foo and Hathaway who is more of a 4th line guy.
We need a right shot in the top 9.

Why? Where on the Flames would he fit in and actually be an upgrade? He is younger than Stajan, and an argument can be met that perhaps he makes for a better 4th liner than Stajan, but he essentially gets the same amount of points. If he is getting a better opportunity in Buffalo (anywhere in the top 9), then you could argue that he may even be a downgrade on Stajan.
Girgensons looked good his first season, and then he disappeared. Maybe a change of scenery candidate, but I don't think he is worth the gamble. Would rather take a chance with some of the prospects on the farm.
