Remember when we used to make fun of Canuck fans for liking their high-scoring, fancy goals, yet ineffective brand of hockey, while we were winning "boring", low-scoring games?
I'd like a return to those days please.

Is there any sense that Huska is ready to make the jump to the NHL? Several young teams have had success recently after promoting their farm team coach.

Considering the investment we've made into our defensive Corps and Goaltending I thought thats what we were in for, which is okay, but at the moment we seem to be playing river hockey.
And the sad part is that our offense is delivering, its our defence thats faltering and I cant blame our goaltending because Smith is being hung out to dry.

Sorry we aren't boring now?
One line is exciting. The rest for the most part is painful to watch. (2nd line hit and miss recently)
Oh no's, will our 3rd and 4th lines still not score goals? What ever will we do!

I'd like the team to just leave him behind in his hotel room. He'll simply walk down to the lobby in the morning to find that everyone has already left.
When he contacts the team, Treliving can just tell him, "Sorry, we have a new system for checking out now. It's a sound system and works perfectly when everyone follows it. It seems that the new system might be too complex for you. Sorry, it's not the system. It's clearly your inability to follow it."

The people who want Gulutzan fired are the same people who refuse to recognize the limitations of this roster and are probably the same people who will be asking for the next coach to be fired as soon as the team isn't living up to "expectations."

Maybe....
So Fire Trevling then?
This is the team we have. We have no picks. The GM picked the coach.
Maybe they arent good enough. But we will know for sure if they dont improve under a new coach. What's the worst that happens?

We find out it wasn't the coach. The players struggle more under a new coach. A team that is only in a mini slump ends up dropping 10+ in a row. The Flames find themselves in last place. They win the draft lottery with a pick they traded away. Players trade values plummet when they perform even worse with the new coach. Guys begin asking for trades because of the way the coach was handled and the direction of the team. The Flames follow the decade of darkness rotating coach carousel as demonstrated up north...
Not that I think that's what would happen. But when the team is currently a winning team, who are very much in the playoff conversation, "the worst that could happen" could be a lot worse.

If Gulutzan was replaced, how should it happen?
Sunday, December 10th, 2017.
The Flames went 0-2-1 against Toronto, Montreal, and Vancouver. The worst being a deflating loss on Saturday, December 9th against Vancouver where they held a 4-0 lead halfway through the game before ultimately falling 6-4.
The team sits at 14-14-2, when they announce the firing of Glen Gulutzan, Dave Cameron, and Paul Jerrard. The coaching trio gets replaced by Darryl Sutter, Mike Keenan, and the return of Marty Gelinas from the rafters to behind the bench.
Darryl’s defensive prowess, Keenan’s ability to get the absolute best out of his star players, and Marty’s work ethic combine into a super unit.
The Calgary Flames finish the season 66-14-2 and run the table in the playoffs going a perfect 16-0, with Sean Monahan taking over from Gelinas with a staggering 9 playoff OT goals during the run.

I'm sure the first rounder is lottery protected. Most traded firsts are since the Kessel incident.

Was Francis loaded when he wrote that column? It's like he mashed two themes into one article and half assed an ending. That was horrible.

Darryl should elbow his way into Gulutzan's post practice scrum and start taking questions without waiting for Glen to leave.

Conroy should take him for a hike up Grouse Mountain and then say I'll be right back. Then he can disappear. Eventually he'll figure it out.
