I agree a shake up is required. I think it's Brodie-Stone. The Hamonic Brodie pairing is getting eaten alive. They both need shelter. They are both not confident.

It doesn't mean it's permanent. But right now they are killing the team.

I watched the UFC tonight, and am not disappointed.

Again for at least the third time tonight, gio and Hamilton have been an elite d pair this year. The amount of posters on here who don't want dougie on the team anymore is ridiculous. If he magically disappeared tomorrow for a top 6 forward who would you replace him with exactly?

The more I see Brouwer play, the more I'm wondering whether he is also done.

All 4th line regular guys either done or flat out not remotely good enough at all. Just generally unserviceable and unplayable, that entire 4th line corpse.

How disheartening.

Here's a thought. Maybe come out ready to play when the puck drops.

Same excuse when they lose. How could you not be ready for a rivalry game?

This paring remind me of Regehr - Phaneuf pairing in Brent Sutter era Brent never see it that it wasn't working then, and GG not seeing Hamonic - Brodie not working now.

I was at the game. Garbage. That 4 minute powerplay was more than pathetic...the Oilers were simply toying with them. That was the time for th Flames to set the tone...big fail.

This team has no system for entering the zone. They can't pass. They play with no passion. They play like a team that has no confidence in the system. Only when GG started to double shift a few players in the third did the Flames start to show some passion. And from what I saw in the magical 5 to 7 minutes of the third, they were playing on instinct and adrenaline, not with a system.

Hamilton is the softest Flames defenseman I have seen in a long time, useless 6'4" pylon. His photo bombing skills are useless on the ice.

And did anyone hear the interview with Paul Jerrard after the game? He was asked specifically if the coaches said anything in the locker room after the first period. The answer was that GG calmy reminded them of how they want to play their system. And he also said that nothing more needed to be said after the second period.

Are you kidding me?

And then he basically implied that nothing more could be done. So irritating.

Yep. Gulutzan should be one of the ones made to skate too.

Just got back from the game, what an atrocious display. The comeback makes up nothing for the 50 plus minutes of garbage hockey this team served up their fans today.

They should have pounded the injured Oilers. Instead they made the Oilers appear really good over 50 minutes.

There has to be change. My vote is GG, out. And Brodie needs to ride the pine for while.

Special teams were horrible. Against the worst PK in the league we made them appear great.

Season in jeopardy? Come to Calgary!

Suffering a ten game losing streak? No problem come play the Flames.

We are a soft team with no grit. No heart.

Playing the Flames for most teams is like going to a spa.

Not prepared to play, yet again.

Relying upon your system and rolling the lines is just not good enough.

Oh, another point. I don't care how many shots the Flames ended up with, 99% of the shots had no quality to them.

On the other hand, poor Smith was hung out to dry and every shot he faced was high quality and risk. And how many of those quality shots were on Oilers break aways? At least 3 if I remember correctly.

And there was no toughness on the ice. I never saw one quality check the whole game.

May be there nothing more could be done by the coaches, then it's clear that the coaches need to go.

The D zone is a mess. Once pressured it's certain the opposition gets a grade A chance. They sucked so bad tonight it's completely unwatchable. Figure it out. It's just incredible the highs and lows the team can go through.

Hard to defend them with such a poor display.

It seems to me under GG the Flames D back in way too far and complety concede the blue line on every rush. Which would be fine if the forwards defended the blue line at all, but they don't. We see this magnified in the PK where we are embarasingly passive, and just dare teams to make good plays to score.

Once we get hemmed in our forwards never come back deep enough, and our D men have two options. They can skate the puck out or fire it up he boards. This is predictable and other teams easily adjust to counter it.

The Flames are 23rd in goals allowed, 26th in shots allowed and 29th on the PK. In what universe is this not a condemnation of the defensive system GG is shovelling.

I wake up every morning hoping they hire a coach who is available who has won 2 stanley cups, been to 3 finals and a western conference championship. If they hire that guy, it will be a joyous Christmas for me.

Positives for tonight was that I thought Sam was good even during the dumpster fire first 45 minutes, the two goals were icing.

Negatives were that the team came out unbelievably flat, but if they hire a coach who has 2 Stanley Cup rings and is unemployed right now, he would will this team to greatness. The current coach will coach them to third place in the conference.

This bother me the most!!! I said it in the GDT that when you have a Finnish punk stabbing at your starting goalie's knee when he down on the on the ice covering the puck you need to send someone to rearrange the said punk's face, like cave it in!!!
