Somehow I think Valimaki will help the Flames in this matchup against the Leafs in the years to come. Our D outside of Gio just didn’t look confident on the rush, I think because the Leafs had great speed & positioning.

Tonight is a painful reminder of what the Flames look like when the top line isn’t able to generate offense.

That being said, I will always love Gio and his complete level. He never gives up and is always going 110 percent. When he has the puck you can see how hard he is working to make something happen. From his skating to board battles it's just a treat to watch. If only his partner and a few others did the same all the time.
You would take a regular season Flames win over a Grey Cup championship for the city?

Another game, another sloppy effort that starts with the team looking unprepared right out of the gate.

If there's one thing this team's consistent at getting, it's crappy starts.

Why? 1 game out of 82 or THE game for all the marbles. WTF.

So what is GG's system. Except 1st line, there is not much offence, but all D except Gio look very bad. So may be Smith is only reason that we are not talking about a big change.

Having a hard time pinpointing the defensive issues with this team.

Gio-Hamilton
Brodie-Hamonic
Kulak-Stone

How do you screw that up? That D core is the envy of 90% of the league and yet we can't figure out a system that tightens things up and limits mindless turnovers?

Only watched the first half of the game. TOR was winning their match ups on the road. They were playing hard and executing.

CGY was lucky to have Smith early, unlucky on the Tkachuk chance but just not quite on top of their game. Credit TOR for playing with pace and putting pressure on CGY.

Flames had some lineup changes and I think that put them a little off early (no excuse for the intact lines but it affected special teams) and when they went down, the Leafs were playing too well to recover from.

Good thing is they're not playing terrible and have room to improve.

Well that Leafs broadcast was painful , they do pull out the old Red Wings tricks of little bits of interference one our forecheck very well tho

Just a meh game all around , needed to shorten then bench earlier tonight.

I agree. I don't like the CFL and really like the Flames, lost a big 2 points tonight.

Did you have an NHL regular season game party at your house tonight to watch the big game? What did you think of the intermission enetrtainment?

Just kidding, I get CFL isn't for everybody. But the Grey Cup is Canada's biggest sporting event. Sure would have been nice for Calgary to win it.

Valimaki has more poise in his own zone then any of the Flames current Dmen outside of Gio. Defense literally ####s their pants against a strong forecheck. That's the book on Calgary, clog the neutral zone and forecheck hard. GG never adjusts or doesn't know how.

It wasn't a big 2 points. There are 81 other opportunities to secure the 2 points.

Can someone please tell me why the superstar trio of Lazar-Stajan-Hamilton saw one minute of ice time in the third? Please enlighten me.

So frustrating to watch and totally reminded me of why I hardly watch anymore.

Turnover after turnover and shot after shot that misses the net. Beaten to loose pucks it felt like at least 5 to 1 and boards battles lost repeatedly.

Unwatchable garbage really.
