Just chiming in with something here. Repeat offender status in the CBA has nothing to do with the length of suspension. The CBA version is only to determine how much salery the player forfeits during his suspension.

The player's history can factor as much or as little as DOPS decides it should, regardless of whether or not they have repeat offender status.

The Department of Player Safety should have a doctor on staff, in an educational capacity.

This is brand new information to me, it just seems so connected every time they publish the suspension videos.

Why is everyone all over the NHL discipline system? Parros has only been on the job for 1/4 of a season. I really liked that hire and I think he continue to get better in his new role

When the NHL gets things like this right my first thought is, they must have made a mistake.

Because the NHL DOS is a repeat offender.

It is, because the lost salary is a big part of Landeskog's punishment.

Without the repeat offender status, he loses 4/190 of his salary or ~$126k.

With repeat offender status, he would lose 4/82 of his salary or ~$293k.

Ouch, even if you are a rich hockey player $293K has to sting a bit.

I thought he would get maybe two games but I am quite satisfied with four games. That's a dangerous play as we sometimes take the delicacy of the body for granted as Tkachuk was very lucky to come out of that without any major injury.

Great.

Now maybe those turd nuggets at the league office can do something about that hunk of garbage who tried to take Johnny's leg off with a dirty disgusting knee.

I was hoping for atleast 4 games so seeing this makes me happy for sure. Dirty play no doubt about it and Landeskog got what he deserved.

The ref who didn’t call a major should also get 4 games

exactly - they call a spearing major in detroit for a love tap which the NHL later referred to a a slash/tap- 1 game suspension for unsportsmanlike conduct

This ref calls a 2 min penalty for numerous crosschecks - one directly to the neck which results in a 4 game suspension

NHL refs need to be held to account and become consistent. stop with the game management just call a penalty when its a penalty

Though it would never happen I think this is a valid point. On severe or blatant botched/missed calls the Refs should have their own review body that could punish them with fines and or missed games. Might bring a bit more consistency to how games are called and urgency/commitment to calling the game the right way if they stood risk to losing income for terrible calls.

The refs who handeled the Detroit game last week or wte it was allowed it to spin out of control and terribly blew the final 8 mins giving the losing team a 5 min major that lead to a 5 on 3 and potential for it to spin even more out of control than it was already. It ties in to player safety IMO and the refs can negatively fuel the emotions of a game if they don’t do their job right.

This will never happen I know but this post does serve a valid point IMO more than the humour it was trying to convey.

Not sure this has been discussed before, but why not have the suspension only count towards the team the infraction was incurred against? In this case, next four games vs the Flames, ban Landekog? Or for that matter, give the flames the option of i) ban him for the next four Flames game or ii) ban him for the next 4 consecutive games. This will really benefit the team that the foul was committed against. Thoughts?

My daughter and I were in the 6th row section 130 and that is the Flames attack zone for the second period... I jumped up when the crosscheck happened. One of the Avs fans close by said that deserved a misconduct for the severity and location of the hit. We chatted between periods about a possible suspension and this season ticket holder admitted that their captain plays with an edge, which can easily go over the top too often.

Scary play in person and the Jumbotron replays just confirmed the severity.
