I don't think I've ever seen this happen before but the convictions have been upgraded to first degree murder by the appeal court.

I was just coming to update this. I wish it could be longer but at this point, this actually feels a little something like justice compared to what usually happens.

Prison justice is easy and lets people get their revenge without getting their hands dirty. I'm curious how many of the people who agree with it would be able to walk up to someone, beat them to a pulp, and walk away without feeling bad. No matter how scummy the target, I doubt any of you could do it in good conscience.

It's wrong, but it's easy.

I get the bad feelings and lack of sympathy. I won't be sending get well cards if it happens, but society can't support it.

Heck most of these prisoners who carry out prison justice probably absolutely no concern for the victim, they are just looking for an outlet, someone to abuse.

Took ten minutes to deliberate. Not sure what the hold up was.

Anyone know why the girl was with these people and not her parents?

Spencer Jordan was her parent. He had visitation rights.

http://calgaryherald.com/news/crime/...lling-daughter

Court heard last week that an autopsy concluded Meika died from blunt-force trauma to her head and was covered in bruises that could not realistically have been caused by a simple fall.

Co-prosecutor Susan Pepper said earlier the Crown’s theory is that Jordan and Magoon committed many acts of violence against Meika over those four days.

The violence, she said, was allegedly inflicted by the father pushing the girl to the floor, causing her to hit her head; punching her in the stomach; dragging her up the stairs by the ankles and hair; and throwing her up the stairs, causing Meika to hit her head on a stove.

Pepper alleged Magoon committed similar acts of violence, including forcing Meika to hold her hand over the flame of a lighter, causing the third-degree burn, slamming the girl’s head into the kitchen floor and forcing Meika to run up and down the stairs with her hands tied in front of her.

The serious answer is likely that they just wanted to make sure the Mr. Big sting didn't prejudice anything else. Nope? Good. F em.

I sure hope their crimes become common knowledge in whatever prison they are sent to.

I ain't saying its right but files get left out on the desk while the screw goes to the toilet, often they're in the toilet for ages.

It's hard to even just read some of that stuff. Hope they have an awful stay in prison.

can't understand how/why someone would do that to their own daughter. if you did not want to be part of her life, then just send the cheque monthly......

hopefully prison is a rough place for both of them

I can't even read the details. What a horrible thing to have happen. I don't even care what happens to them in prison, cant stop thinking of that poor girl.

Beyond saddening. That little angel was abused and tortured for no reason.

How can you forgive anyone who mistreats someone as innocent as a child?

I've said it before and I'll say it again.

If that was my child and given the chance, I would beat the ever living hell out of the people who did this to her.

If I wasn't given that chance, I would wish those people get the ever living hell beaten out of them every day for the rest of their lives. I would have zero remorse, zero regret, and no issue sleeping at night knowing they are suffering.

This is not my child, but an innocent and helpless child regardless. I still feel the same way.

Its not about forgiveness is it. I very much doubt that anyone but probably a small circle of friends would even think its forgivable, or that these two people are redeemable.

Frankly a lot of criminal acts can be forgiven.

but when it comes to kids, its never going to be forgiven.

But justice isn't about forgiveness is it, that concept doesn't matter.

I can forgive someone when they're on their way to prison for a crime, but that doesn't mean that I don't think they should be punished.

But frankly I don't even know how you can rehabilitate someone that has crossed that very large line in terms of violence on children.
