Yet another gross misrepresentation of what people are saying.
The question is not "is johnson the 'apple in the eye'?" The question is: is he better than Lack?

LOL just kidding...I don't know if Tre has ever taken a vacation...

Lets be serious, I am reasonably certain that no human being has ever gone to Buffalo on their 'vacation'.

Also if that 35 points third liner turns into a 70+ points power forward, don't people remember the Flames gave up on a player who they thought was not good enough to be 1st or 2 nd line and too small for 3 or 4th line? And this player signed with TB and won a Stanley Cup and a few trophies along the way.

I was under the impression that the Flames actually were willing to bring him back, but as a backup. I think last playoffs and the start of last season showed us that nothing other than an undisputed proven #1 would work. The issue was, from my understanding, Johnson wanted more of a 1B role and not just a 20-game backup, despite that being a role which he seems to really excel in. He also wanted to be paid like a 1B. Can't fault him for his ask, but he certainly wasn't going to get all that in Calgary and it seems no other teams were willing either.
Chad this season is alright, if inconsistent. Outside of an absolute stinker vs NJ and uninspiring starts vs LVGK and CBJ, he's been what you'd want from a backup - low 2.0's for GAA and .930+ sv%. He just has been unable to string together two good starts in a row.

They didn't want Johnson at the price he was asking. Which, it seems, was at least $2.5M. I wouldn't want him at that price either. Now knock over a million off and I'm OK with it.

Lack and Stajan/Glass/Bart for Chad with $1M retained.

People are clearly forgetting the Chad Johnson who finished last year with Calgary and has played the first part of this season with Buffalo. He was and is awful.

He's not great. But he's better than Lack. A third option would be grand (I still think they should have made a move for Pickard).

He literally saved the season last year and lost the net when the team started clicking and it was moose’s chance in net
Don’t get me wrong he’s no Carey price or mike smith, but he’s a very serviceable goaltender

Buffalo gets all the bad players and takes on more salary?
And Buffalo retains on Johnson?
Buffalo does this why?
If Calgary wants Johnson, it would be Lack and something of value for Johnson.

Dreger says there is nothing on the table that is encouraging Botterill to move Evander Kane right now. Maybe Kane gets moved later in the season.
Dreger also says the Sabres want to see how Sam Reinhart plays for the rest of the season before making a decision on him. Maybe available in the offseason

So, a Kane or Reinhart trade is imminent, then?

It is Dreger so I will assume both Kane and Reinhart will probably be moved any minute now.

Lack is a very big asset as far as he helps any team that wants to tank, and I believe Johnson has been traded under these circumstances before. The Flames probably need to showcase him one more time, another .750 save percentage game and he is worth at least a starting goalie and cap space from a tanking team.
