Default Looking for a cool US city to visit in May

Any recommendations for a weekend trip in May?
Two couples in our thirties looking to go somewhere fun for a long weekend.
Wouldn't mind catching a baseball game, want some good bars/restaurants and something to do/see.
I have been focusing my search on a few US cities like Boston, Chicago and New Orleans but am open to ideas.

Price isn't the primary concern but don't want to go somewhere crazy expensive or spend 12 hours in an airport each way.

the three you list are definitely on the short list I would have proposed

for quicker flights/directs I would offer up Chicago, San Diego, Portland
Longer haul: Boston, Washington DC, New Orleans (haven't been to the latter in a long time)

New York City is incredible, but maybe a long weekend doesn't do it justice
Underrated: Minneapolis

Haven't been but would like to: Austin, Nashville

Anchorage is probably the only option that time of year, and possibly only in the evenings.

Is it still the nineties in Portland? That could be fun.

I would throw San Diego into your list. Lots to see, lots to do.....not sure on flights but I left from YEG to SEA then on to San Diego, don’t remember the flight being horrible.

Lived in both New Orleans and DC.

New Orleans is severely over rated and DC is severely under rated. Plus in May, the heat, humidity, rain and giant roaches make New Orleans unbearable. If you're hell bent on seeing New Orleans some day, I strongly suggest you go between January and April.

Come to DC, the only problem is you'll run out of time before you see everything.

Edit: Yes and San Diego is phenomenal.

Love DC, Boston and NYC. San Diego is also a great place and has perfect weather.

SF is the coolest - not sure what is left of Napa right now.

I have always wanted to check out DC. I am sure between the food/drink and museums there is a ton of things to keep us moving.

Based on the tv show, it seems a lot like Calgary.

Seattle is also a good time. No sales tax if you tell them you're from Alberta.

Is this really a thing? What do you have to show them to prove it?

Definitely Austin on that list.
Food, drink, bat viewing...just to name a few- and a good chance it won't be 40 degrees every day in May (close, though)

DC is incredible. Went there 4 different weekends, still didn't see everything.

Boston was a ton of fun, so much history there. I blew out a calf muscle walking so much there to try to see it all.

Alberta driver's license is sufficient. Provided they know about this; but they should.
