As mentioned already, more of an assault than a hockey fight.

In that situation, Hamonic should be allowed to go into full guard, put his skates on Mantha's hips (or higher) and cut him up. If Mantha wants to go UFC, Hamonic should be allowed to too.

I'll be really disappointed next year if the Flames don't go after Mantha. The Witkowski thing doesn't even compare to what Mantha did IMO.

NHL media and governance is such a joke.

It's a group of old boys who think within a box when they address discipline, get super outraged over stick incidents and late hits and gloss over anything with the fists because they know what a slippery slope it would be to ever try and crack down on that area.

That incident is one of the most disgusting things I've ever watched as a flames fan, and it has gotten almost ZERO media coverage excepting Hamonic's comments.

I know some people will consider it extreme but that Mantha incident is the kind of thing that seriously makes me not want to have hockey games on when my small kids are around. And actually makes me want to watch hockey less, not more because instead of relaxing and watching a game it makes me feel angry and disgusted.

Someone needs to chop that clip up so that the crime is not buried in the middle and more people see it.

Hamonic had that fight well in hand until he fell. Mantha was being jerseyed. Aruably the linesmen could have stopped it then.

It’ll be really interesting to see what comes of the Tkachuk call, because there’s no way anything can happen to Tkachuk if Mantha is being excused.

“Oh, you’re going to suspend Tkachuk for 2 games...well, I’m glad we have Mr. Hamonic’s lawyer here with us - we’re going to be looking into assault charges on Mantha.”

It is mind boggling that Mantha is not being suspended. You can’t do that. You can’t do that on the ice, let alone off the playing surface and in a bench/hallway.

Holy could you imagine?

Gulutzan should play ACs clip of Mantha on Hamonic before the game and then unleash his team. Would be the most penalty filled SCF in history I would warrant. Of course, those nimrods would have to make the playoffs first.

That clip pisses me off so bad.
