That bum for Detroit what ever his name is( I won't even bother trying to remember cause he's a career AHL'er at best) I 'd say is the luckiest. He would have been murdered. The good thing is that I"ll take comfort knowing that Detroit isn't going any where any time soon plus it's Detoit. I wouldn't let my dog take a #### in that place .Hockey town??????? More like #### Town!!! That City should just be wiped off the map!

The only thing missing from that one was Ed Whalen doing the play by play.

@WesGilbertson
#Flames LW Matthew Tkachuk on Red Wings' Luke Witkowski: "Going to the bench, turns back and chirps our whole bench and didn’t want to go anywhere. So just went over there just to give him a little poke just to get out of here. He was looking for an excuse to come back."

Tkachuk nailed it. Witkowski immediately started going at Hamonic following the Kulak fight, and had no intentions of leaving the rink.

So I guess today Gulutzan is an even for me.
At the end of the day his biggest role is to have the team ready to play. He often doesnt.

Detroit has a new arena, right? Stupid design to put the hallway leading to the home dressing rooms in the middle between the player benches.

A team of professionals. Weak to blame Gulutzan. These guys shouldn’t need a coach to make sure they are ready. Get ready.

Um ya it is the coach and his staffs job to make sure the team is ready. GG is to chumy with the boys and needs to get a grip on this young team.

This changes it more for me. Tkachuk deserves more credit that I originally said.

1). First time I can say I'm a fan of gg. Loved his post game comments.

2) you know who else should get the team ready to play? How about our overpriced veteran leadership?

3) we're really lucky Hamonic wasn't seriously hurt.

4) loved Backlund giving it to the ref.

5) Troy Brower has earned a new nickname. "Absent". Troy " Absent" Brouwer. No idea what he brings to this team. Veteran leader supposed to be setting the tone in the room - team not ready to play to start most games. Game getting out of hand, need some emotion - absent.

I'm done with Brouwer. Needs to be benched, traded or waived.

#Flames LW Matthew Tkachuk: “I hate to lose and I hope everybody in our locker-room hates to lose, too. That just wasn’t acceptable and I know guys weren’t happy. I know we have one of the most competitive teams, if not the most competitive team.”

We won 5 out of last 6 before tonight and Penguins have been blown out 10-1, 7-1, 7-1 so far this season. We'll be fine.

It's a blowout game that you're losing, Witowski just took it way too far against Kulak with a dirty slam but Witowski is already off the ice and Tkachuk reaches in for the tap?
Okay fine, now there's some posturing with teams getting in each other's face. Even so, Witowski is still pulled back and turns to leave. Tkachuk goes too far again in shoving him. Why? Are you going to send a message to a player and a team that you'll no longer see for the rest of the regular season? Or a statement to the league that you'll stand up for your team when a no-name guy is already being sent off by initiating a scrum?

Not going to point a finger at any single player or individual moment as it all played a part but did want to share my 2 cents on Tkachuk's part in it.
Yeah I wasn't crazy about that either. I felt the whole brawl was kind of pointless.
Witkowski gives a couple of shoves to Kulak when he's down but it shouldn't have been that big of a deal. Kulak went into the fight willingly, lost pretty squarely, but didn't seem that rattled. Happens, the game is gone, just move on. This isn't some division rival we need to be mentally prepared to hate.

Losing sucks but it's just 2 points no matter the score. However if you take suspensions then this game keeps hurting you in the next game, and that's just stupid.

lol you think the Flames started all that? Luke Witkowski tried to fight Hamonic right after and then he was going at the entire Flames bench. Then he came back on the ice after being escorted out.

Guy is an AHL goon with 4 career points.

No.

His biggest role is to coach. To get them playing a certain way, a way that (ideally) wins you games.

If an adult at the very top of his profession needs someone to get him “ready to play” when it’s time to go out there and do your job, then that adult should just stay the #### home.

Someone... was it Backlund, that had his arm across Ferly's chest? I'm pretty sure Backs knew that too and didn't want him to waste a suspension on a dirty rat like whatshisface.

I would have loved Ferland to hop off the bench and start laying out vigilante justice, but then we lose our top line RW, on a 5 game goal scoring streak, for x amount of games. That's the caveat.

It's natural to look for a scapegoat after a game like this.
Coach didn't have them ready, goalie was in poor form, coach doesn't pull said goalie soon enough, Brodie was awful, refs are awful... all true and valid criticisms; pick any one you want, but it doesn't tell the whole story.
There can be no singular reason for an outcome like that. Best to move past it and not look too hard for any one reason. Plenty of blame to go around. Gulutzan is 100% correct to lay it at the feet of the team as a whole.

Yeah, that was Versteeg. You could tell he was looking out for Ferland's best interests to not get suspended.

Ferland will get a few games for his forearm shiver.

The wings will have 2 players suspended, imo, and some immediate renovations between the benches.

Not Lack's fault but he is not good enough, not even close

Flames need an upgrade. Can't just have a guaranteed loss every time the backup is in
